No Man Sky Hype Thread 7/10 GS Flop?

If he has a PlayStation 4 then why the hell would he care if this game comes to Xbox One or not? It's irrelevant, some games release on specific platforms and that's all it will ever be, it's just what it is.

To compound this further, this game was only ever announced for the PlayStation 4 and PC so him being illogical with a sense of false hope and want is idiotic by default.

@dynamitecop: For the record, back when NMS was still in it's early development, MS was still being jerks to Indie developers at that time, Hello Games didn't like what MS was doing and it's why they lost a Xbox One version, that's what freedomfreak was refering to about MS's Xbox One.

Scores are completely meaningless. Some of my favourite games were ranked low on this site. Your best way to find out if this game is good is to play it yourself or read many different opinions on it. Going by this site will give you a very poor and limited view of games I've found. Most reviewers here have their own agendas or just put a score up to please the majority and rarely give honest reviews.

I'm guessing 8.0.

I don't understand how some people can hope for a game to fail so much. Everything I've seen of the game is exactly what I expect it to be. The devs haven't lied or overhyped anything. The game looks like a simple space exploration game to enjoy and relax with after a stressful day, it surprises me that it gets so much hate from certain people. I'll be taking a long break from SW when it releases. If it's half as good as I think it is, it might be my GOTY. I've always wanted a game like this all my life.

You are way too anxious to hate on this game and go into way too long winded rants about it to take your opinions as honest. Usually when a game doesn't look good to someone they don't make it such a focus. Unless there is an agenda.

Way too anxious? Has your internet been out for the last few years? Myself and countless others have been saying exactly this since the game was first shown and discussed, and over the time more data and information has come to light it has only begun to reaffirm what we've been saying all along. Mechanically and fundamentally it is setup to become boring after a relatively short period of time based upon what is known and prior knowledge of games that share comparable ideals, mechanics and strategies.

The hype train for this game is at levels so far beyond deliverability, and most people seem so absorbed in the glaringly mundane that they can't see beyond the initial appeal and honeymoon phase to realize that once excitement runs its course, then what's left? Exploring a dead procedural universe to collect resources, upgrade your ship and experience sloppy combat without any motivation, goal or story arc to drive the game forward?

I'm a space exploration connoisseur, I know what this game is about and I already know I'll like it.

I've not seen a single well laid argument about why this game sucks. I've seen the trollish "What do you do?" argument that has been answered multiple times by the devs. If you don't like space exploration games then this game isn't for you.

I get you don't like the game and it doesn't bother me that you hate it so much but it seems that anytime someone praises this game it gets under your skin. Why is that?

@dynamitecop: I'm not sure what the deal is here but how do you get so invested in conversations about a game that does not seem good to you? If it looks boring why do you discuss it at such length? Does it personally offend you? You seem concerned that some may like what they see and actually enjoy the game.

It's quite obvious why some people won't like the game and it's quite obvious why people will like it.

I spend weeks flying from spacestation to spacestation on elite dangerous just trading goods, this with a average of 8 hours a day. At the end I did kinda got bored with that though but there was a lot more to do than that, and now I had money.

There's just something about doing a flyby of a planet that's 4 times the size of earth, or doing zig zag through an asteroid belt. Space battles simply rocked. After a month I did kinda got bored with elite but that's longer than a lot of 50$ games. Still, I would have played the game a lot more if I could actually land on planets and meet alien life....

I agree. I have over 1200 hours in ED and I'm an Elite Combat Rank. I spent most of my time doing combat missions and bounty hunting. I traded a bit but that got boring and too risky after the last update. I also do quite a lot of exploration in ED but unfortunately the rewards for exploring in ED are not so good. We can land on planets since the Horizons update but other than climbing mountains or exploring deep canyons there isn't much to do. ED planets are barren and lack life. The reason I'm most excited about NMS is that it will have planets with oceans, caves, and lots of diverse life. That's already a lot more than ED has. There will be a lot more things to do for explorers like you and I. I get why some people may not like the game but I feel like the game is not for them in the first place. When I see people that don't care for exploration games complaining about NMS they seem to me like techno music fans complaining about classical music. It's just not for them and they should move on and find something else to play.

9. Playing on pc hopefully with HOTAS support. I wish it had oculus support though. Love elite dangerous in VR

To me, as a science fiction freak this game can go as high as a 10\10. That is if performance is acceptable and the online parts work.

Im being cautiously optimistic about this game. I want it to be good. Waiting for reviews though like I do with most games.

Personally I'm more hyped for ABZU and Bound but I dont have a problem giving a game its props if props are due.

Looks like this game will bore your balls off after the initial 3-4 hours of exploring.

Then again millions of people play those games daily and this is a space one so I guess you're right.

Me personally I want a AAA version of a survival game and from the looks of it this is not it but its as close as we are going to get for now.

This game was announced before this gen's consoles were even released (NMS, EQ Next, KUF2 and Deep Down were all announced before PS4 even released and the reason I bought a PS4 early on) and 360 had way more indies than PS4 last gen. I think Sony paid them a bunch of money. Nothing wrong with that to me business is business.

I get what you are saying that it has something to do with the old parity clause, but I dunno. Like I said it was announced before either the PS4 or X1 were even out.

Oh man, after reading the impressions on reddit from the guy that got the game early it seems like a shit ton of people are going to be super disappointed and pissed off at this game

When this game was first revealed I was hyped as hell for the possibilities but it looks like the end result is just gathering supplies in space with no real purpose other than to "reach the center of the universe." Whatever that even means. I'll just wait an extra 2 weeks and get Deus Ex instead since that looks to be the much better game in August.

funny thing to is I've a huge backlog of games I'm even interested in to work off but all I find myself playing recently is Star Wars Battlefront for Fighter Squadron battles and Blood Bowl II, which is freakishly addictive, I need something to knock me out of my funk
