[QUOTE="ownage_denied"][QUOTE="clone01"] what red herring? i'm curious. you obviously have data on this.clone01
Really? When did I state that? I haven't stated ANY facts, I just made a statement.
And again, nice red herring.
so again, provide facts.Provide facts for what exactly? I didn't make any claims, I simply made a statement.
[QUOTE="ownage_denied"][QUOTE="clone01"] according to july NPD, the PS3 is in the hole about 7 mil.clone01
Okay? What does this have to do with him claiming an unsubstantiated 9 million unit lead.
that's what the sales statistics say. you don't agree? Please give me a link to the sales statistics you've seen that show a 9 million unit lead. Until then, hell no I don't agree.
[QUOTE="HaloIs4Nerds"]54% FAILURE RATE. MS is too busy working on Natal when they havent even fixed the failure rate. It will never be fixed MizFitAwesome
If you want to deal with percentages, then a 100% self ownage rate for mentioning that number. Read my sig and be schooled in reality....
@MizFitAwesome learn 2 statistics. It wasnt a small area it was country wide. As far as I care who cares about statistics outside of the US if im IN the US. Secondly heuristics state that at a certain polling rate percentages become close be it 300k people or only 30k people. Lastly self polls are always full of error, so this poll could be completely wrong anyway. You either use it, and realize YOU MIGHT BE WRONG, or dont. Regardless its not a pointless poll its just not 100% accurate. Even if its half that 25% is still nucking futs..[QUOTE="clone01"][QUOTE="ownage_denied"]

Its just over 8 Million
If you guys are gonna start using vgchartz as a credible source I'm not gonna even bother to debate anymore.
They haven't even updated Sony's latest numbers that put the PS3 at 23.8 million units. Link
The article is dated FEB 15, 2008.

5000 people hardly make up enough evidence to support 30 million sold. If you believe that you are severly deluding yourself. It's like the 1st statement in my sig. Prove the poll was well made, if you intend to use it...
MizFitAwesome
Statistical analysis failure.
5000 is a big enough sample. Political polls from Gallup often don't have any more than that, and they're supposed to represent 300 million.
Yeah, the gallup poll really helped John Kerry win in 2004, didn't it? You just helped prove my point....
Oh really? The thing that matter is, that even with such a small sample, the gallup poll was only off by 3%. If the same margin of error was applied to this poll, that would still leave the 360 with 51% failure rate.
It is undeniable that the 360 is a piece of junk. No console in history has ever had a higher failure rate than the 360. Just ask around here. How many 360 owners are on their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th 360 because of hardware failures? Plenty enough to prove the point.

Also, why are you skipping over to 2004? There was another one in 2008. Is it because it doesn't support your belief and you therefore hope to cloud reality by cherry picking examples? Of course it is.

All of this is irrelevant as gallup polls are done by professional companies that specialize in making sure their polls are as accurate as possible. GI is a video game magazine, they didn't follow proper procedure and therefore their numbers are not scientific and can't be used. If we're just going to start believing unscientific information without any regard for actual fact then I've got a machine to sell you that will turn iron to gold.[QUOTE="clone01"][QUOTE="ownage_denied"]

fine, i misquoted. its still a large gap: http://www.digital-digest.com/blog/DVDGuy/2009/08/15/game-consoles-%E2%80%93-july-2009-npd-sales-figure-analysis/[QUOTE="clone01"][QUOTE="ownage_denied"]

Anyway, no I don't think you're making this up as we all know the 360 is ahead of the PS3. When someone boasts unsubstantiated claims like a 9 million unit lead I have to ask for proof though. As you can see, the most recent numbers put the lead in the 7 million range but people continue to change the numbers to benefit their argument.

i was never the one who stated the gap was 9 million.I hope it is the end of the RROD. Truthfully, that is what is keeping me from buying a 360.randomwiiplayer
The date of manufacture on my Xbox 360 is 2005-11-11 - a launch system I bought around February of 2006. It works as well as when I got it.
I keep my system horizontal (not standing up). I keep it on a table, instead of on carpet, with a minimum foot of clearance around the top, back, and both sides. I keep the power brick on the same table, instead of carpet. it's plugged into a surge protector/power bar instead of a regular power outlet.
I've never had the RRoD.
