...everytime Sony screws up, we try and do some damage control for them. And unfortunately, it's the majority of SW that does the damage control so if anyone actually says that people are DC'ing, then everyone ignores them.

I see tons of things wrong with the above. Sure, there are people bashing Killzone's online population, but then you see even more people ( I wonder why) bashing Halo Reach's #3 position on XBL. I don't even think there was any negative reaction to Sony stopping support for 3rd party usb devices. And when the companies start bashing each other... it gets pretty damn weird around here.

Sony's exclusive lineup for the fall is complete and utter trash. But, do we acknowledge that? No. Instead, we completely ignore Sony's bleak fall situation and insult the 360's fall lineup even though they both only have ONE GAME. Because somehow... GT5 is automatically better than the bane of entertainment that is Halo.

All I'm gonna say is, it's ok to bash Sony. Be unpopular. It's ok. I will still feel the same way about you even if no one else will.

I won't speak for the rest of SW, but when it comes to consoles this gen, I've always been partial to Sony (and Nintendo, but that's not the point of this discussion, amirite?).

Half Life is totally meh, but we forget... Valve gave us Steam, which is pure unfiltered glory, and TF2, arguably the best online shooter this gen. So, I'm OK with that praise to a degree. It's hard to overstate how awesome Steam is.

So for the "Sony takes away use of 3rd party usb stuff!" and people saying it was okay, how do you know those same people were mad at MS for not having third part support, and if I recall correctly there was actually quite a few people who were mad at the removal of some 3rd party support.

So for "Halo Reach #3 in activity on XBL" and people loling at Halo, yeah the entire thread was people putting down the TC for making a thread like that it pretty much ended in the first couple posts.

I mean really if you lump everyone together like that everyone is hypocritical.

I don't like lumping, its so bad, lumping is never good, now humps that's good I like humps, especially lovely lady humps.....

The Killzone thing is true; you really can still find plenty of full games. I agree that SWers give Sony free pass for the USB removals and such though.

As for the KB commercials, don't take them personally. They're just commercials, lighten up a bit.

This thread never would have existed 2 years ago. PS3 and Sony used to get routinely bashed everyday on SW. Now that Sony has been performing much better, it's stopped. Coincidentally, MS had been making a lot of poor decisions lately and are getting a lot of flak for that

This is something I don't get that applies for all systems. Why are we focusing on seasonal lineups? What matters is what they release throughout the year.

Why yes, I do think Sony is given special treatment. They are by far the most lambasted company and anything that can be taken out of context or twisted around to be used against them is, no matter how rediculous. OP is a prime example.

This was a thread implying that a Sony cut the use of many 3rd party peripherals inspired by another thread on PS forums that put the number at a mythical 75%. There were many posts in this thread deriding such a poor decision by Sony even though there is no indication that it was intentional and even though I looked, I could only find reports of a mere 2 peripherals that were made incompatible through the last update (out of thousands).

As for Fall lineups, you even got that wrong. Sure, Sony's offerings are pretty weak for the season, but GT5 is still a huge release for Sony and fans of the genre. And MS's Fall offering isn't Halo Reach (that was Summer), it's Fable 3.

This "special treatment" is why we still get miquotes from half a decade ago and why posters ignore what doesn't fit in their preconcieved notions like the posts defending MS banning users for 3rd party HDD's (and later refering to it as MS saying you shouldn't use those) and such.

IMHO, Sony gets less slack than the others on here, because there's a whole section of posters here that might not be technically a fanboy of any one system, but have something against Sony for some perceived slight, or for being the market leader for awhile, or annoying fans, or ect... Anti-Fanboys. Haters. What have you.

But I'm sure perceptions vary. Once someone takes a position for or against something here on SW, they invariably notice opposing viewpoints more, and .... we'll call it "silly" behavior for their side less. That's human nature.

I'd say these days there are more people looking favorably on the Sony console than at any other point this gen, so maybe that has influenced perceptions? /shrug
