I was disappointed in the lack of online co-op in Halo 2, but it probably would be hell to create a system that works correctly for it.

When are people going to learn that just because a Dev is having difficulty implimenting something doesn't mean it isn't going to happen. He actually stated that even if it doesn't make it into the final game, it'll be there as downloadable content. Bungie for good reasons are finding it difficult because at any one time a player may be a mile away from the others. I think it's more an insight into how big Halo 3 is than a bad thing. We'll get Co op, plain and simple. He said it's coming.braydee1234

Thats not the point man. The point is, the price I pay for a game I expect all the content to be there period. Or how about this. If online co op will be implemented later, charge me for it later and cut the price of the game now. Instead of paying $60 for the game now, charge me $50 and Ill pay the $10 when the co op is up and running. As far as I know this could be another GT4 situation.

While fielding questions from the press today, series producer Kazunori Yamauchi had this to say about the Online version of GT4: "We hope to do it in the near future.

That was in 2004.

Halo 3 is about hitting scripted story points and progressing through a story. The only conceivable way you could do online co-op over Live would be to setup checkpoints that tethered the players together so they didn't go to far ahead or fall too far behind, and I am not sure that would give a great "Halo" experience.

I for one want to play the campaign solo, maybe once with a IRL friend co-op, and then play it to death on multiplayer on Live.

Magical_Zebra

They did that for HAlo 1 so I dont see how that wouldnt be a great halo experience.

Dude, Halo 1 was played co op from the same box. The logistics alone when you think about the fact that your 360 has to connect to the live server, your friends 360 has to do the same. You push up on the conrol stick, 360 sends the signal to the live server who in turn sends the signal to your friends 360 (lag). Not taking into efect projectiles in the air, people running around, blah blah blah.

Lag? The same exact thing happens in regular multiplayer mode and I see no lag in any of my xbl games.

They are not going to charge you for co-op, downloadable content doesnt always mean charging. When it comes to co-op online they wouldnt charge for it unless they added more to the game.

I am sure they will release an unfinished game that doesn't support any online co-op. Reviews will still be amazing. Everyone loves Master Chef and teh halo especially Jeffy G here. 1up has a huge bone for this game too.. A few months after release the Online Co-Op expansion pack will show up on XBL and it will cost you money. All will hail MS and Bungie for extending the life of this franchise.

When sony does this exact thing with motorstorm it is a source of scorn and hate.

That's disappointing, looks like Halo 3 could very well score below a 9.0 this time around.

lol wtf are you talking about? The only problem they said they had was that the players could be miles apart, and what I was commenting on was the fact that even Halo 1 had the exact system the guy was talking about which was transfering the player thats far behind to the player thats ahead at checkpoints. I dont get wtf your talking about lag for because lag has nothing to do with that at all.

Are you kidding?

For one, Jeff Gerstmann pretty much HATES Halo 3. He says it isn't even in his top ten E3 games, when the beta came out he was all "Meh, more Halo, yawn". Where the hell have YOU been?

Also, even if Halo 3 lacks online co-op, that is in NO WAY similar to the content-free travesty of Motorstorm. Even without online co-op, Halo 3 would still have a single player campaign and offline co-op, and probably the most extensive and varied Versus multiplayer modes of any console shooter, with tonnes of varients and plenty of maps.

Hehehehe. Your killing me. I completely agree with freak. How do you have a FPS with no online co op? Its the standard of the industry now. 90% of the next gen fps's have some sort of online co op mode. Halo 3 is not exempt from this. And he is right, if the game doesnt launch with online co op it will score lower.

It does have all the features, the online co-op is just a bonus. Its not like they are cutting it from the game and then later on adding it in because they can. They are just not able to get it in on time so they will add it on when they get everything working perfectly.

Well I never said the score wouldn't drop I just said under 9.0 is a bit drastic just because it doesn't have co-op online at launch. Either you aren't paying attention to what I'm saying or your misinterpreting my point of view, not to sure which.

The new rating system goes by a .5 scale. Halo 3 can be the pwns and everything, but I wouldnt be surprised if it scored an 8.5

No online co op in a fps, at launch is just inexcusable.... no matter how you look at it.

Not really, theres plenty of FPS that dont have co-op and even if they do a lot of it sucks. Though yes I do agree that it would be better if they could get it in before launch. A console online co-op isnt as needed as a PC co-op since you cant play split screen on a PC like you can a console. So its not like the co-op isnt there because it is, its just not online atm so its just missing an extra part to the co-op.

Anyway I know what the rating system goes by and I dont get why you say it would get an 8.5, this entire topic is about co-op online so are you saying that the co-op would drop it a whole 1.0 (assuming it reaches about what halo 1 and 2 got).

Yeah I personally enjoy sitting next to someone when playing co-op, just more fun imo. Though an online option wouldnt be bad if you dont have time to go over to someones house or whatever reason.

I see what your saying. A game gets reviewed at or a few days after its release. M$ can promise all day and night that Halo 3 will have co op in the future but the reality is if the game does not have the co op portion off the break, its gonna take a hit at the time of the review. No, co op does not make or break a game. But an epic game like the Halo series where you damn near needed a friend for legendary mode set the standard. Epic story, co op, free roam to a degree. Now you come to expect that with Halo 3, especially since you have live.

Co op online will just add another entire element to the campaign. And as for me, I lived to play Halo 1 and 2 co op.

Why leave my house when i can stay in the confines of my house w/o having to leave? I dont invite my friends to come over and play GEOW and R6V so we can catch up on old times. We can do that on live through our headsets while in the game at our respective houses. And on top of that, I love for my fiance to walk around in her "nice" clothes...

It just seems like your making it out as if theres no co-op which isnt true. Anyway I understand that some people would want to play it online but when it comes down to it as long as it has co-op I dont think reviewers will be to hard on the multiplayer section.

Bungie likes to be very dramatic at times. We're trying basically means that it will make the ship date. If it doesn't I would be very surprissed.

Gears Of War had it strait out the box, and that's why that game scored a 9.6.Epic brought the whole package, and I believe Bungie will do the same.

I live for co-op anything and my brother and I base a lot of our purchases on whether a game has co-op or not. We have 2 360's in house, so it better, and I mean better have system link!

We always loved playing Halo split screen, but we expected Halo 2 to have system link. No dice. As time goes on, technology and infrastructures increase, and so do our expectations.

[QUOTE="D00nut"]Honestly Bungie, ifthey want the campaign mode to last they better include online co op. What have they been doing for the last few years with this game?Spartanx23

Bottom line. If it's not there this willcause ahuge controvercy!

Peace.

BINGO! Thats my point right there. I probably would not have bought Halo 2 if Halo's co op wasnt so damn fun. I live in Northern VA. My brother lives in Montgomerey County MD. I cant just walk over to his house and setup shop. Drive time, pay the damn tolls, traffic on 495, its just not worth it. Him and I play Forza 2 and race against each other all the time. So i guess for us we are a bit spoiled. Having always shared 1 tv for 2 player games now we can be in the comfyness (is that a word) of our own hose and still co op. ;)

Its going to have co-op, they just dont know if they are going to get the online co-op in before launch, if not they are going to try to release it as an update.
