Why do they have 'processing power (gpu)' then show the core clock -.-... That's the dumbest thing I've ever seen, it makes it look like pc is only 2-4x more powerful on the gpu front, when it's 6-10x.
Then the prices? Is this little thing article ish... what ever it is, trying to shoot itself in the foot?
360 and PS3 games over here in EU are 60-70 euros which is about $90-100 Pc games though still expensive are a more reasonable 40-50 euros99$ PS3\360 games? :?
And a big lol@best selling game
MonsieurX
Yes, this is a totally relevant spread sheet that speaks only the truth  Isn't it sort of stupid to be comparing systems so religiously at all, especially one against many?
Well, this is System Wars.[QUOTE="calvinsora"]Isn't it sort of stupid to be comparing systems so religiously at all, especially one against many?
GhoX
True enough. I guess I just get fed up with the futility sometimes.

Inconsistancy
Because the masses wouldn't understand that. same reason they said HD graphics. They should've listed resolutions and the number of pixels :P
I love how they excluded RRoD because of that. Wonder how much it would've been if they didn't.
SC2 sold 3M in the first month, those numbers aren´t worldwide it seems.
Arach666
First week. SC2 came out with what, 3 days left in July?
I don't think it takes into account the amount of time might spend on a PC just in day to day chores, online banking, browsing the web, email and so on. Failure rate, no PCs mentioned, I am sure PCs fail. HDD die, video cards might overheat or they fail to start, power supply dies. It seems that the data is very flawed and very much geared towards making PCs look like they are coming back. PCs will always be the benchmark that consoles are trying to achieve, and they are doing a fine job trying considering the age of the technology. The best selling video game on conoles is very laughable, seriously considering the MW games have been so incredibly popular, Wii sports could also be in that camp considering the game came with the Wii when they were first bought and there are a lot of Wiis aour there.mike_on_mic
The time spent on consoles could be to use it's internet browser, media capabilities, or Netflix. I'm guessing it was a gamer-based survey.
Failure rate would be far too hard to judge, because of the simple amount of different variables.
Can't trust this article as it can't get its fact straight.. I know the 3 and the 5 are both numbers and somewhat close.. but something small like this is enough for me to not trust it at all. And especially since apparently the ps3 has $99 games but the 360 does not? 72% of the country plays games on the PC? Yup, Bet that includes Farmville and Solitaire.dotWithShoes
Not sure what you mean. Do you mean slide 3 and 5? What's wrong with them? I think they calculated in Special/Collector Editions, which would've lead to the extra cost. Also it's 72% of the USA that plays COMPUTER or VIDEO GAMES. That includes consoles, PC, handhelds, ect. It's the total number of people who play games.
Using clock speed to compare graphics horsepower...............oh my god....so stupid.
PC_Otter
Common folk won't understand the difference. They could've used the quote from AMD where graphics cards are 10x than entire consoles put together though.

Or they could just display triangle/pixel/texel fillrates. You know I REALLY LOVE the way they LEFT OUT the PC in the "reliability" category:roll: Was this to imply that PC has a 0% failure rate? LOL
What a joke!
And I'm sure that in the PC gaming revenue totals, they added every single stupid little $5 kiddy game out there.
I'd love to see the totals for sales of CORE games only, you know the games that we actually give a crap about?
We all know that games like Call of Duty, Battlefield, etc. on consoles outsell the PC versions by about 10 to 1

You mean like those kinect, wii fits and all that crap? Which btw are the top sellers on consoles.
What type of game is played most often - 44% for Puzzle/Board/Game Show/Trivia/Card and10% for Downloadable Games (Such as Bejeweled and Diner Dash)

I'm thinking about the exact same thing. If we're talking about ALL PC sales, then people have to realize that a sizable chunk of that is casual gaming and stuff like Farmville, which people usually don't care about on System Wars. (Otherwise, people would similarly be bragging about Wii Play's enormous sales -- which would be silly. :P)
The PC makes a lot of revenue, but that's just because so many people have PCs that they can play games on. But only a fraction of those people would call themselves PC gamers.

Bad company 2 and others disagree with you
You can't show failure rates for PC since their hardware varies.
Must I also remind you of stuff floating around in the console territory
And also you seem to forget

Woops.. old eyes deceive me, thought that said 5 year warranty. bleh, I just completely goofed.. "I dun goofed"... being tired and being on GameSpot don't go well. Ah well, it happens I guess just ignore me.You know I REALLY LOVE the way they LEFT OUT the PC in the "reliability" category:roll: Was this to imply that PC has a 0% failure rate? LOL

Sure just like the console version of Battlefield Bad Company 2 outselling the PC version 10 to 1, oh wait! ;)
Yes PC gaming is more popular but i don't enjoy farmville and mafia wars
Zurrur
Well you could always take a look at another survey that was done. It takes out those type of games you mentioned and only includes boxed, digital and MMO's. The PC still beats 2 consoles together, it only looses slightly when up against PS3, XBOX 360, Wii, PSP and 3DS combined ;)
I don't care about sales because I'm not a fanboy nor am I a stock holder. But it is a fact that if you want your game to make you money you bring it to consoles, sorry but it's the truth. Consoles are superior in the market place and PC gaming doesn't have as much of a community as the PS3 and 360 do. Not saying PC gaming is dying or anything, because it isn't, but consoles are the lead.
Newzoo is actually a fairly reliable source of information like this, however their free information is rather lacking. In past years I remember the reports you actually have to buy were significantly more in depth in all aspects.
As for the prices, I'm fairly sure they're using foreign currecny and translating it into USD.
Yeah, seriously, LOL, all this proves is that consoles HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT.What type of game is played most often - 44% for Puzzle/Board/Game Show/Trivia/Card and10% for Downloadable Games (Such as Bejeweled and Diner Dash)

You don't see console owners bragging about the sales of Diner Dash and Bejeweled when we can brag about Metal Gear, Gears of War, Modern Warfare, Halo, etc.
They were foolishly comparing "power" by comparing clock speeds. Clock speed does not translate into comparative capability. A Radeon 5850 running at 100 MHz is still about 150% as powerful as the 500 MHz Xenos in the 360 in terms of GFLOPS (and yes we can compare the two in this manner since all Radeon GPUs until the VLIW4 derived 6800 and 6900 series are descendants of the Xenos). Much like current CPUs, GPUs can be interpreted as "massively multicored" where as clock speed can be kept the same yet the actual number of "cores" can vary, which of course affects performance.the higher the processing power of the GPU the better high-end graphics? how does that work? the 360's gpu can actually produce better graphics than the ps3's.

AMD Xenos uses 1 scalar (1 instruction and data) and 1 way SIMD/Vector (1 instruction, 4 data payload) configuration while Radeon HD (before Cayman) uses VLIW5 i.e. 5 instructions + 5 data payloads configuration.
AMD Cayman was recycled for 2012's AMD Trinity APUs. AMD Hondo APU still uses Cypress type 5 VLIW configuration. This line reflects AMD64's fusion with Radeon HD's IP.
AMD Graphic Core Next (GCN) is actually closer to AMD Xenos type stream processor configuration i.e. 1 scalar + 1 SIMD/Vector format. This line reflects Radeon HD's fusion with AMD64's IP.
Including AMD Bulldozer's 256bit wide AVX/SIMD FMA 4, AMD has atleast 4 stream processor configurations in Q4 2011/2012.
There are two AMD Fusion projects i.e. AMD CPU side and ATI GPU side.
AMD Radeon HD 6800/Bart still uses VLIW5 designwith Cayman's front-end improvements.
Comparing by only Mhz should use within the the same processor designs e.g. Radeon HD 4650M @ 450Mhz Vs Radeon HD 4670M @ 675Mhz.the higher the processing power of the GPU the better high-end graphics? how does that work? the 360's gpu can actually produce better graphics than the ps3's.
