what tha hell is tha? consoles are already outdated but PC and they want to wait till 2012-1015? hope its a big joke!!!! i want new Xbox or PlayStation by the end of 2011Syferonik
I think Patcher has a point with the cost can you see how expensive games are to make now ? do you honestly think especially in this economy that m$ andsony are just gonna go and start making a more advanced console which will be expensive in itself, while companies are struggling with making games now with all the cost imagine playstation 4 or xbox 720 and imagine how much more the games will cost for us consumers to buy.
I do believe the wii will come with a wii 2 though but probably not m$ or sony unless they do like the wii and start casual which will be cheaper.
If there isn't a new console by 2011, I won't even be interested in the disgustingly out-dated graphics of the consoles. PC gaming just won this generation :D Real gamers rejoice!
Another analyst with absolutely no clue what they're talking about. Microsoft already announced the next Xbox was in development - its' being developed entirely in-house, which would rule out an "pure upgrade" given the current Xbox is using parts from other manufacturers. Significant hardware changes offer us the option to *reduce* game development costs and simplify game development.

Will the next Xbox be tool-compatible with the 360? Yes. Does that mean there won't be hardware changes or performance increases? No - trusting anyone in the *banking industry* to tell you how a technical product will work is foolish.
-
As for the notion of Sony being the dominant system in 2012 - that same claim was made in 2006, and every year since then. At this point, have analysts actually started looking at the data, or does uneducated speculation still pay just as well?
Patcher? Really? quoting him is like quoting VGchartz Dante2710Wise words.
This guy always gets things wrong.
Let me just say... If there is no hardware advancement then I'm done with consoles. I can't take looking at the same graphics, physics and gameplay for the rest of my life.
But it's not going to be true... I know it.
They could be under the assumption that the PS3 will be priced at the competitors level, hence the increased hardware sales, dunno where they're pulling those software numbers from? All these analysts are laughable, how are they professionals?Another analyst with absolutely no clue what they're talking about. PC gaming wins every gen by default, so no real surprise here.
