Nobody wants the PS3

Look Sony fanboys, you can stop screamingabout the PS3 price drop that EVERYONE already knew was going to happen. Almost everyone here in SW that doesn't already have a PS3 isn't going to buy one simply because Sony shaved $100 of the price. Fact is, its STILL too expensive, and there STILL are no games worth purchasing the console to play them.

Just because Sony is getting desperate doesn't mean that we are.

It can't still be too expensive, 400 dollars is what the 360 was.

Actually I already own a PS3 (take note i live on my own) and my 17 year old brother is getting a PS3 for christmas BECAUSE of the price drop (He lives with my dad). My dad wouldnt get him one cuz of the price... but WAIT A SECOND!!!!

Well, I want one, but I wanted it at the right price. I'm currently looking as 60GB PS3 on Ebay for under $400. ;) The 40GB is gimped. I wouldn't waste my money on that system, but I'd get the 60GB PS for under $400. I paid $400 for the XBox 360 and I still don't regret my purchase of that system, even though it RROD about 20 months after I purchased it.

Well when the 360 gets AAA's every other week almost, yeah, I'd say that the PS3 with its premium pricetag should have games of at LEAST equal quality. Then again, I guess I expect more for my money.

Uhmmm...I thinking about buying one now. I know a lot of regular people (not SW fanboys) who want a PS3 and the only thing holding them back was price. Even my cousin, who buys every console every gen at launch, told me that the PS3 is a "strong peice of hardware"and for $399 it should be a "no brainer."

How do you get 170 dollars in tax? Where I come from, tax is high, and that's at 10%.

350 + 10% = 385

400 + 10% = 440

Difference of about 55 dollars. Unless your tax is some kind of crazy 30%.

I do agree with you there, but maybe it's just me, but I'm looking at it this way. All the major 360 AAA titles are coming out this year, which is year 2 of it's life cycle. All the major Ps3 AAA titles are coming out next year, again, year2 of it's life cycle. I knew when I bought my PS3 last Dec, it would be a slow year, I wasn't expecting much until the last part of this year and next year. Maybe I bought my PS3 too early, but I've enjoyed what I've got out of it so far.

I would gladly "lose" the $50 on the Xbox 360 for the priviledge of owning it for over a year before the price drop. After all, we had AAA games since day 1.

PS3 early adopters lose $200 after less than a year, and have a lackluster game library to boot.

A comparison from the UK (where I live) to the US isn't really fair in this respect considering the higher cost of living and the higher level of tax but even so that argument leaves out a lot. But even so you need to consider the position of many people, homeowners with a mortgage, people who rent etc. $100/£100 difference can mean a lot. Secondly whether or not something is too expensive or not is relative, i.e. whether or not it is actually worth the price tag. So basically like the economic principle of utlility.

As a side note I'm a Uni student so with the loan and government grant I recieve I could quite easily buy a PS3 (already bought a new TV, PC and 360 with it) but as I said in my second point, it isn't worth it at the moment.

you know nothing about economics, production costs drop at a faster rate with higher grade technology and also the deal with toshiba makes them be able to drop the price

To be fair, the iPhone had a $200 price drop after only a few months, and it's the most wanted pice of technology this year, with the possible exception of the Wii.

Scores =/= peoples own opinions about games. *sigh* I'm gonna go play warhawk, a lackluster game on my inferior console, or maybe ill play bioshock, or finally beat Twilight Princess (got it back in Feb. and still havn't found the time to beat it :lol:). The funny thing is even at launch in the UK a lot of people were making a loss or breaking even when selling them on ebay.co.uk
