I think people credit it to their games not being quite as...large. I'm not exactly sure. But for what its worth, Nintendo games are always very polished indeed.

Yeah I see what you mean they are usually smaller... but still. There's something to be said for the way Brawl and Mario Galaxy maintain silky smooth framerates despite all that is going on onscreen.

I point that out all the time. They are the best developers out there. I like a lot of games on various consoles, but I swear when all is said and done the only games I ever replay are Nintendo games--dating all the way back to the NES.

I wonder how much programming and development goes into a Nintendo game than compared to... lets say Crysis??

That's a good question. Nintendo does seem to close themselves off from the outside world as far as the actual development goes, don't they? It must be super secret. I believe I read somewhere that their R&D costs are very very high.

I always credit Nintendo games with this. The fact that they always ship a polished, finished product, instead of releasing it to consumers as a glitchy, buggy, unfinished beta says loads about their development skills.

Lol, thanks. Recent events meant that I had to change both, my sig and my avy so yeah :P And about the DLC thing, I think their recent statement about never wanting to do paid DLC had a lot of people appreciating the fact that Nintendo always ships a full game.

I believe there is another topic here on SW where Nintendo says that they dont believe in paid DLC for things such as stuff that is already on the disc/DLC to complete a game (something that should had been a complete purchase when you originally bought the game from the store/downloaded it), or least thats what I got from reading it. Which is good, it sucks having to pay more just to unlock stuff on the disc.

Nintendo actually makes sure their games are complete before they release them. No one really talks about it because it's expected out of them. If there ever comes a time when Nintendo makes a game as bad as Bethesda or Bioware, you will definitely hear a lot of complaining.

Weaker system, no DLC excuse, no HD so they can't only focus on graphics instead of the engine. /thread nothing to do with quality if that's the point your making, the other systems simply allow devs to use shortcuts or be lazy. (Believe me, I am a professional doctor who is professional I am.)

Because they do not push the envelope techincally. It's easy to make a bug free game that is 1 to 2 generations behind in technology.

I think nearly everyone agrees that Nintendo makes the best polished games around. Finding a glitch in a Ninty game is like finding a Briefcase full of money in a sewer. No dev( Other than ND and Atlus) can compare.

As for the op

true, but maybe it's because we have gotten so use to it. Still, I do think they deserve praise.

Not that I agree that people dont,

but -their games arent that technically impressive, nor do they run on impressive hardware, getting a great deal of polish isnt hard within those confines

Zaibach

Agreed. I was waiting for that answer.

Mario Galaxy is the most polished game in existance. But it's due to the Wii's low hardware capabilities, and low standards in graphics. It's a beautiful game, but that's due to the artstyle. If it had the same production value as say, BF3, then we might have a few pop-ins.

And if that's the case, then Zelda HD worries me...

Their hardware is practically last gen, their games aren't open ended, most of them don't support online multiplayer, they don't do open world, they don't do mmo rpgs... It's really not that impressive that there aren't alot of glitches in their games when you consider all this.

How good the hardware is doesn't relate to how well people utilize it. Older hardware is for the most part less complex and therefore easy to develop for.
