@scatteh316: How can you "patch" a piece of hardware? Hardware is only a bottleneck if the software running on it is designed as such. So what Crytek are saying is "We can't be bothered to make the software work for it.". Which is fine because I won't be touching another Crytek game ever again.

Esram is going to be the best thing that happened to gpus everyone is going to use the method in a couple of years.

FYI a 1080p framebuffer is only 16 mb so that's not the issue not having all the tools at the start of launch is the problem and a little bit of accepting new things.

The bottleneck is the software not the hardware so yes it can be improved. The next SDK will do that and allow overflow from ESRAM to DDR3 RAM while only keeping assets requiring high bandwidth in the ESRAM and swap as needed. But cows gonna cow.

It's ok. Let them believe what they want. They think they know everything. Another year or so from now they will be like. "WTF. How is the XB1 doing that!?!?" lmao!!

whatever the xbone does the ps4 can do it and better.

Thats so nice of MS to alpha test Esram in the Xbone. Now nobody in their right mind could screw up as bad as MS has. How long until its ready to be put into a production product?

lol...

Sure it will when GDDR5 on current GPU like the 7970 have way faster bandwidth already..

Several developers have stated that ESRAM isn't enough,ESRAM is the problem and it will be as much as a problem in 7 years as it is now,not to mention the weaker GPU.

Whatever the Xbox can do, the PS4 can do better (in relation to graphics)

Is everyone is this thread misinterpreting him so bad? He is saying as a developer you shouldn't expect a problem to solve itself but keep working with what you have until the status quo has actually changed.

Ms screwed up they used ddr3 main system ram with 32mb of esram. While things are in the esram the gpu works great. However the 32mb is very small so it goes to dd3 and thing slow way down. Besides changing the ddr3 to gddr5 or adding more esram there is no way to fix this problem. You add in the fact that the xflop has a weaker gpu and there is no way the xflop can come close to the ps4.

What MS will do is upscale and optimize and damage control. Consolites are dumb when it comes to hardware so anything MS says they swallow. When devs say the ps4 is faster then MS will have another dev say they are similar. When games run faster on the ps4 MS will say look at the clouds or dx12 is coming ect.

I have no problem with the xflop being weaker but it cost the most smdh.

Esram was soo 2001. Everyone including IBM, Intel and Nintendo moved to eDram.
