Not much discussion here about Alan Wake's graphics.....

Havent seen any topics here bashing Alan Wakes graphics. For the last couple of weeks, Alan Wake's graphics have been front and center here in SW; so much so that AW needed its own stiky to be made. It's only been out since Tuesday and I haven't heard a peep about this issue.......I wonder why??

Because the only reason to bash AW's graphics is resolution and some bad textures and both of those topics have been beaten to death.

Have you played the game? There's not much to talk about when it comes to graphics ... it pretty much just sits in the middle of the pack.

The game looks spectacular, has the best lighting, scale and foliage than any console game, so why would anyone ... bash those graphics ? For beeing the best on consoles by miles ?

Even the weather effects and forests are by miles the best on consoles, physics too

The only thing it is begind is the subHD which is non noticable at all and some lower res textures, but those are only noticable in a very few occasions, other than that it is the best you can get on console visuals by far

From the videos I've seen of the game, it looks very well done. Probably one of the best graphics I've seen on a console game since Killzone 2.

Graphics are AWs strong point. But, I still don't think it's amongst the best games like fanboys hype it up to be. Even if AW looked visually better than Uncharted 2, Uncharted 2 would still be the better game.

Its visuals are hate it or love it.Some reviews also said it did not look particularly good.Anyway...low res textures,low poly world details(cars,chairs,other stuff...),bad animation,ultra bad lip syncing,great foliage and lightning,blurry as hell.

The game was made by small team,first was open world game to showcase PC graphics,so because it was first open world game engine was made for that(developers said that) hence low poly details in world,character details...and then they went missing and went back with totally different game mechanic and 360 exclusive.Of course it turned out the way it did...

The lighting effects with the flares are sweet. And the forest looks awesome. Other than that... I've yet to be impressed. The lip syncing sucks really bad, it's so irritating. It's like The Warriors, or Dead Rising. The faces just look stupid when they try and show emotion.Not-A-Stalker

Hmm...i have to say that i dont like it.I am total graphics whore,i look at every little detail.Alan Wakes hair,animations,cars,interior,tvs,lip syncing,lightning,textures...and in my opinion all of that except lightning looks very un polished.Its just my opinion,its also sub hd,no its not typical sub hd,its borderline with last gen,i dont want anyone to tell me that that does not matter cus game looks quite blurry.After playing both,AW and RDR i think RDR is the best looking 360 game,definitively.After that comes Gears 2 and than AW,of course IMO.

Exactly.After playing UC2 and even now open world game like RDR you can sense so much polish in those games.From details in environments,to great animation and voice acting,its very fluid while AW is just pain to watch...those cutscenes are very stiff,like characters have botox in their faces.

I havent palyed it yet (got it rented and ill pop it in today) but I hear it looks very very good.

Even with the lower resolution..its still one of the best looking console games imo

AW looks great but there are little things that stick out like eyesores, like people previously said the lipsyncing, character models, and textures.

They dont stick out as much as people like to say, the only place i even noticed the bad textures was at Cauldron Lake Lodge, but even then the fantastic draw distance and scenery more than made up for it. The character models arent the best, but they're by no means "bad". And the lipsyncing isnt a constant issue, it only effects a tiny portion of dialogue when you take every cutscene into account.

From the videos I've seen of the game, it looks very well done. Probably one of the best graphics I've seen on a console game since Killzone 2.

I'm not really sure I agree, obviously UC2 graphics are better, but Alan Wake is a pretty damn good game.
