i have both consoles the ps3 and the 360, and time and time again i hear ppl (mainly 360 owners) saying that the 360 controller is better for fps, but to me i like that the ps3 analog sticks are close together and at the same level, to me its awkward that the 360 controller has one stick higher than the other, for me its more balanced having them at the same level and close together like the ps3 controller, so for me its better, now go on...... start hating.........kingmanbroskyyeah i hear people saying the ps3 triggers suck for FPS. but you never have to use the triggers for shooting. default is R1. and yeah, i like the PS3 analogs for shooters too. its nice a sensitive. i like both controllers for FPS

It just feels weird compared to PS2, and it has triggers :(I can't stand that my thumbs touch when i play fps on the ps3 try strafing right while turning left the sticks are to close together, at least for me. also the triggers are dumb. The 360's dpad is bs you'd think that ms would have learned after the original xbox controller. madmidnight

Also the 360 analog feels more fluid, games on ps3 do not feel as smooth. Thats why I hate when people say Killzone 2 feel like CoD4, yeah maybe on a ps3. I won't even get started on 360's d-pad though...
I liked the original xbox controller, but I hate the 360. Using R1 and L1 in say COD4 feels really good and tight to me, but R2 and L2 feel like crap, I wish they would abandon the trigger idea.

you do know a PS3 controller is an exact copy of a PS2 controller, just without the cord and the back top buttons are like wedged o.o
[QUOTE="tylergamereview"]The poor design of the PS3 triggers and the broken d-pad of the 360 controller make them equal in my eyes.RK-MaraThe triggers are needed quite more often than the d-pad.Agreed, I would only use the d-pad for fighting games which I do not like anyways. On mass effect though it got annoying sometimes when trying to select a tragedy during combat. At least the game is paused during that moment strategic planning.
Alot of fanboys will try and explain why one is better then the other but personally i just prefer the feel and the look of the 360 controller. It feels like microsoft tried to build a perfectly shaped controller.
Oh wow, maybe I should make a new thread about this...
@Everyone complaining about PS3's triggers.
1.) R1 is default for shooting.
2.) http://www.amazon.com/RealTriggers-Playstation-3/dp/B001IAOEXU - Buy them, now.
$5 for Real Triggers.
A company called XCM make a converter for PS3 and 360 which allows you to use a keyboard and mouse. Which i guess would give you an unfair advantage at FPS games.
[QUOTE="urdead18"]lol you have to buy triggers? Uhh, no you don't. I don't have em because I like the PS3 controller how it is, but if you wanna whine about the triggers, it's $5 to "correct" them.Oh wow, maybe I should make a new thread about this...

In my opinion, the 360 controller isn't just better for FPS games, it's better for anything that uses the left analog stick as the primary movement control.
The problem with the PS3 controller is that the D-Pad is located in the natural position for most peoples' left thumbs. This is due to the controller still being the same basic design as the PS1, where the D-Pad was the main movement control.
Yeah, they added thumbsticks to the controller for the PS2 and PS3, but they didn't really redesign the controller around the thumbsticks, they just shoved them on the bottom of the controller.
With the 360 controller, your thumbs naturally fall over the left analog stick and the face-buttons, which are the default controls for most games.
Oh wow, maybe I should make a new thread about this...

1.) R1 is default for shooting. And that sucks bc we like triggers for shooting. The R2 an L2 are still horrible, slippery is not the word I want but that is the best I can come up with.
$5 for Real Triggers. Yeah no thank...

Was it your first time?
i admire your superb skills at innuendo.I just use an adapter so I can use my 360 controller on my PS3....I really can't stand the PS3 controller it's way too small for my hands and I just can't get used to it.

Actually, despite it taking some time for me to configurate the controls for certain FPS. It can be really nice to use the DS3 for shooters, it feels a little better because it doesn't weigh so much.
I prefer the PS3 controller for FPS, even tho the 360 controller is much more confortable and has a proper analog placement, simply becuase all of the Dual shock 3 buttons are pressure sensitive= more reponse and better handling in games.
I remember playing Halo 3 for the 360, and itfelt similar to Killzone 2(which many ps3 owners complain about it's controls) in terms of response which explain why some people say Killzone 2 would be perfect for the 360. It also explains those youtube videos demostrating how there nothing wrong with K2's controls comparing it to other popular 360FPS titles.
If your a little girl or just have girly hands i can see why the PS3 controller might be better. For manly men like myself the 360 is the perfect fit.
If you disagree I'd also like to point out the 360 has triggers..like on a gun. Where as the PS3 has flappy annoying pads not like a gun and thus not good for fps.

I actually prefer bigger controllers. Small ones end up cramping my hands, and whenever my kids ask me to help on a level on the DS, I have to put it down after about 5 mins because my hands cramp up. I prefer the 350 pad by a fair jump, if only they'd sort that dam naff D pad out it'd be perfect IMO.Ive been gaming since the 80's, I still prefer the 360 pad.i can't stand the 360 "trigger" buttons, being back there feels bad
and the 360s analog sticks are also weird placed
but then again ive been gaming since ps1

The XBox 360 controller is better for FPS then the PS3 & PS2 controllers. The PS3/PS3 controllers are too smalland the analog sticks are too close together. They are also a bit to loose for me. They work well for driving and platform games though.
Personally I like the placement of the thumbsticks. Since my thumb naturally goes where the PS1 D-pad was (yeah, I played those Crash games, and Spyro and whatnot). Also, I want to "push forward" when I want to move forward, instead of pulling the thumbstick up. And it's hard to explain, but they way my right thumb goes onto the thumbstick, it feels like it hangs off it so it just feels natural for aiming. Plus, there is the dip and little nubs on the thumbsticks... small little detail, but one I don't fail to notice.
Onto triggers, when I played PS1, the default position was three fingers underneath the controller, and my index fingers controlled both R1/R2 and L1/L2. With a trigger that actually goes inward and down, it's just awkward with the index finger and using the middle makes holding the controller with two fingers underneath even weirder. I think the bumper and trigger combination the 360 uses is close to perfect for the high-action shooters (CoD, Halo). A nice responsive trigger button, and with a little twitch of the same finger, you can toss out your grenades.
Im sorry but the 360 controller is better it just is but if you prefer the PS3 DS3 thats fine.aero250

Is this argument even necessarry? It just depends how well it fits in indivisual's hands, and as far as I know, No one has exactly the same shape of hands. I personally prefer Xbox 360's controller, because it's more comfortable in my hands. PS3 controller's thumbsitcks are too low for my thumbs, so I have to kind of stretch it, I can't hold it for more than half an hour without fingers hurting. Plus, I just love the white 360, love it a lot over black.
But then again, that's personal taste, why bother arguing over and controller/trying to convince others which one is better? It's no use.
