[QUOTE="DudeNtheRoom"]The fact that an alien race speaks english better than some Americans like in Halo 2/3.Mordred19
translation devices. standard for sci fi games.
Everyone always says that but in Halo 2 while the Alien guy is getting ripped of his armor they all speak english, yet there are no humans around. How is there a translator. Besides it's not standard if they don't tell you that there is one. I never heard them say there was one. They just all of a sudden started speaking it.Online communities that are full of crazies who play the game obsessively, making it hard to remain competitive unless you also devote your life to it.
Not the developer's fault, I suppose, but it ruins the games for sure.

you ever watch a subtitled movie? you know the meaning of the dialogue, but they are speaking with different words and accents. but when you recall it in your memory, don't you remember the language as your own? it's not too much of a stretch to look at games that way, and it just makes it easier to accept what's happening.
Sequels being streamlined and made into visceral rollercoaster rides rather than making you think: Bad Company 2 (dropped the exploration element of the first) Mass Effect 2 (RPG elements simplified to an unnecessary extent) Call of Duty: Black Ops (took the already scripted COD formula way too far)Harkat95
I think Bad Company benefited from dropping exploration. The original's campaign was a boring mess. 2's was just a mediocre mess.
Corridor shooting, invisible walls, shallow exploration with promise of depth(looking at you Fable 2/3 and Oblivion), bad AI, respawning AI(depending of course), Noticeably inconsistent graphics, consolization or dumbing down, bad ports, etc.

[QUOTE="coolnessmancool"]You do know that you dont have to buy them. Last one i bought was cod 4... Same here. And people on this forum taunted me endlessly, saying I was going to buy Modern Warfare 2 in the end. I haven't bought a Call of Duty since Call of Duty 4.[QUOTE="killzonexbox"]Annual released..Codkillzonexbox
Giant HUD or crosshairs that you can't disable. Ruins the immersion. Imagine if you were watching a movie and there's a big crosshair in the middle of the screen the entire movie. Wouldn't that piss you off? Well it doesn't really matter if you're only playing the game for fun, but if you want it to be immersive like I do then it's annoying as hell.

Movies aren't from the first person perspective, nor is the viewer aiming the gun. When watching the on sccreen character do the shooting instead of yourself, you don't need a cross hairs to aim.

got some CoD/Halo hate eh? Anywho. Camera Angles really kill games for me. Also extremely repititive gameplay.Games you think are open and your free to explore but they end up being completely linear and small.
Both Super Mario Galaxy games (I have a hard time calling Super Mario Galaxy 2 a 3d platformer)
Kingdom hearts 2(this one isnt really that bad though, its still one of my favorite games of all time for some reason)

Open levels are not necessary characteristics of the 3D platformer genre.
I think that's a glitch or something. In FPS's when you turn your head you suddenly can't hear the guy beside you anymore. I'ts like only your right ear works and just because you look another way the sound gets lowered.

I think that's a glitch or something. Don't think so. Had this happen in several games. Me too, but I think it's something to do with the positional audio not working right. On PC there's often an option you can turn off to disable it and then it works. It depends on the game and genre. In general though I would say the lack of quality. It's hard to explain.

Ah, ya think companies would of done something about this by now, swear its been in so many games.
