I notice when I play Annex on a intense map like Raven down where its constant action, I notice there is a big dip in the frame rate and there is noticeable slow down. I really havent noticed it before because I never really played annex on raven down i am starting to notice it in other smaller maps like escalation but it only happens when playing Annex, I think its because there is just so much action happening at one time and that really worries me, I mean if Gears has frame rate problems with only 8 people total on screen, the 360's future game lineup really has me worried and I think the slowdown is due to DVD9. The fact Annex is an update which means is on the hard drive is amazing. I didn't know it was because the lack of space on the disk. You are so smart.
I agree, DVD9 just isn't large enough to fit all the frames
Â
I mean come on, 30+ frames per second?!Â
Â
You're gonna need AT LEAST 50gbs!Â
you have no idea what you are talking about. framerate has nothing to do with dvdsdarrowby88Correct...plus,Raven Down was a downloadable map.ITs on the harddrive.:D
if this game was run using the power of the cell you wouldnt have this problem.InfamousCHonest question...real talk, are you paid by Sony to do what you do on here?
I wouldnt be laughing so hard. Most of you guys still think the disc size has any kind of connection to the games length or the world's size - or worse the game's graphics.XaosII
Not really the people in this thread: considering it would be mostly lemmings defending DVD9, and it's cows who claim DVD9 will limit the games length or map size.Â

It's not the DVD9. It's the processor. It's not as powerful as the Cell.Sexy_FFVII

actually you are wrong, where as blu ray drive is always a constant 9mb, dvd drive is not constant and only reads that fast on the edge of the disc which games almost never require anyways, so it int that fast.everyone has hit my points...
Annex is DLC so it is running off the harddrive
the DVD drive in the 360 is 12x DVD drive, capable of a maximum read rate of 15.9Â MB/s
PS3 uses a 2x BD drive, which is 9MB/second and an 8x DVD

yeah nd somehow you feel you have the right to make that choice, when a lemming not to long ago posted a thread that a barcode MS was making meant more space on dvd9s, and the cell having more power(which it does) and them saying if it was on ps3(which is their opinion but could have some truth to it) it would run better that makes cows the most illogical fanboys ? they could be right cus for some reason epic chose the main SKU for UT3 to be the ps3, maybe because of it's extra strength ?:lol::lol::lol: Ok, that does it. ok, so how fast is the inside track then?
*EDIT* and how am I wrong? I wrote maximum read speed...and even if the inside track is slower are you telling me its 7MB/s slower? I don't think so...

Oh ok sure.....lets all not forget that its the gpu that renders each frame...and anyway the map is loaded into ram, unless its streamed of the disk. But it doesnt matter because its not dvd9s faultÂ
Hmmmm... sarcasm is mising from the Lemmings' brain.

1. I can make whatever decisions I want based on what I see.
2. I did'nt see that barcode post or else I would have flamed him myself cause thats obviously stupid.
3. Power means nothing if you can never use it, I doubt you will see a significant difference in PS3 or Xbox 360 graphics for the rest of this gen. Most of the Multiplat lauch games on the PS3 looked better on MSs SKU could it be because its extra strength?
4. Why does graphics matter to you PS3 fanboys so much?

It's typically half the maximum speed, so about 6X...a moderate amount slower than the BD's constant rate. But here's an important fact: XBox DVDs are filled from the outside in--because they start on the second layer.

notice the key word there? it means it doesnt read at this speed at all times while ps3 does. now which would you rather have?
Gears runs great for the most part but there are times only in multiplayer where you may get slowdown which happens in any multiplayer cause it has to deal with other people's connections.
Even if everybody has broadband that doesn't mean that somebody isn't using a PC with the same connection or some other hardware which uses the internet.
Also there is poor internet speed problems with some DSL services.
As far as the cows saying "this problem wouldn't happen with the cell" should check out all the reviews and their own games that have framerate issues.
Since the Ps3 was priced too high and it's pain to develop for there are hardly any games flying onto that system that had the same development time as the 360. They may have delayed the launch due to "the blu-ray issue" but devs had plenty of time to make games for that piece of crap.

Obviously people would rather buy the 360 + Wii more than just the Ps3 which is a more expensive combination . You can defend the Ps3 all you want which is most likely a lot since you are still waiting for good games to hit the Ps3.

if that is accurate which I am not sure it is...a DVD reads at between 16MB/s and 8.31MB/s? i dunno that doesn't sound right but even if it is DVD's avg. speed is still 12MB/s or so...parts that are data intensive can be put on the fastest part of the disk

Since the DVD's read speed can beat the BD most of the time, I'll take the DVD.Please Log In to post.
