Now that Super paper mario has flopped !!

Thank you so much. I thought I was the only one who actually knows the rules of SW. I do find it strange, though, that sheep are usually the ones who don't know the "flop" rule...

i thought it was hyped around 8.5ish? i thought it would get between 7.5-8.5ish... so im glad it got 8.8.

 no one thought it would be a classic (AAA). its just another great game (AA).

I think it's time for a change in the way we talk about flops around here. Rather than saying "super paper mario flopped" say "the sheep flopped for hyping SPM". Because really, you can't blame the game for people getting overenthusiastic about it. By that logic I could say "I hype Halo 3 11/10!!!!1!" and then if it gets say 9.2 I can say "ZOMG HAlo FLOPZORED!!1!!"

So to all those sheep saying that it didn't flop, you're right. SPM didn't flop, you did. 

You know what I don't like? this place is infested with people who have no idea what the word "flop" means. Look guys.. a flop is a game that did not live up to the hype. Super Paper Mario was hyped AAA in the official thread and it failed to meet up to expectations. That is the very definition of a flop! just accept it like a man and move on.

If you don't like whining about your game flopping then don't hype it before hand. The game flopped- end of story.

I hyped it AAA, and it missed (only by 0.2 tho). In my defence I actually think Gamespot hyped it AAA! They ran 5 previews on the game, and a 4 hour live gameplay marathon! Surely for Gamespot to have gone to all that effort, they must have thought it was going to be a very impressive game?

Wrong. Go read the official hyped thread if you can find it. CaseyWegner counts all the posts and determinded that AAA hyped was the most common.

I think you're mis-interpreting what a flop is. In that case- I suggest reading the System Wars Informational thread. A game that flops is NOT automatically a bad game- it's just something that did not live up to the hype it recieved.

For example...Crackdown flopped but I still enjoyed it immensly. A flop is not automatically a bad game and therefore someone who calls something a flop is not directly implying that the game is bad.

if anyone is to blame for the "AAA" hype its gamespot, it has been hyping the game for what now? a whole month, it previewed 4chapters and did a 4hour marathon of the game, sayng how awsome it was and then gave it a title that they hyped as a 9.5-10, 8,8 i could see that one coming but i was hoping for atleast a 9,1.

but as said beofre scores dosent matter, and if they do 8.8 is an great score, smash brothers only got 8.3 bakc in the day and its an amazing game probly one of the games i enjoyed the most and played the most on last generation, i hated oblivion and halo and iam loving to play dbz tenkaichi. a review is nothing more then the point of view of somonelse if you like to be told what to think go for it and belive then =p

Man I wouldnt call an 8.8 a flop. That is a real good score. and only missed an AAA by 2 points but that is gamespot for u. The game looks like alot of fun and 8.8 in my head is just as good as an 9.0.

How can there be any debate wheter it flopped or not? Countless Wii fanboys have be GUARANTEEING that SPM would get AAA. In fact they have been rubbing our faces in the "fact". Its important that these guys eat a slice of humble pride (and with respect some of them have). THIS is what system wars is all about.pippin73

I'm never hyping anything again....

All of Nintendo's hyped games get 8.8, it's like a curse.  Anyway, they really did give us good reason to think that it would go AAA though between all of the glowing previews, it's appearance on "On the Spot", and the marathon.

Don't you understand how System Wars works? Read the informational thread, PLEASE! If a game hasn't lived up to the predicted hype here on SW then it is a flop here on SW.
