Now that the PS3 is cheaper than the 360, I assume it will beat the 360 in sales

By saying the PS3 is cheaper, I mean that the standard version of the PS3 is the same price as the standard 360 (the $399 versions) but the PS3 comes with the wi fi (an extra $100 on the 360 for this attachment) and the blue ray player (an extra $100 something for the HD-DVD add on for the 360), so the PS3 is the better deal now.

I have a 360 and not a PS3 and am a huge 360 fan, but now I'm worried that most people deciding between the two will pick the PS3 because of this (a friend of mine just got the PS3 purely on the above basis).

You can argue about other important things, but for most people (like my friend), $399 for the 360 plus $100 for the wi fi capability is more than the PS3 with built in wi fi, and most of the major games are on both systems, so the PS3 looks like the better deal.

Am I missing anything or is the 360 not the better deal now and likely to therefore lose to the PS3?

If you're going by the cheapest on both sides then the 360 is far cheaper (with the lowest model being $280).

Premium 360 is still $50 cheaper than the 40gb PS3 as well. As far as sales...only time will tell.The 360 sells, on an average, roughly 275-350k a month. The PS3 has yet to break even 275k in any month since it launched. Like i said, we'll see.

PS3 is more expensive because you have to buy a PS2 for $129 to play back catalogue:|

Totally agree with you man. For example, me and my girlfriend where going out of town for the weekend and the place we stayed out had wireless. Well i own both a 360 and PS3, so i said to heck with the 360 and took my PS3 with me because of the built in wifi, i could always buy the wifi for the 360 but why do so, so yes the PS3 is definatley the better deal now. 360 is a house built on quick sand. PS3 is built to last and i love my blu ray also oh and Uncharted is AMAZING:DChristopherM80

That would make since if the 360 had a better BC itself. Most people already have a ps2, so I dont think anyone buying a ps3 need to buy a ps2. Not only that, if you compare the elite to the 60 or 80 gig, the ONLY thing the 360 has going for it on that comparison is hard drive space. But unlike M$, you can put any hard drive into the ps3.

what? a 360 is is only 320 with a hdd where i come from, canada. the arcade pack is 240...so how is the ps3 cheaper? ....not everyone wants wifi btw and barely anyone uses it unless they are desperate because how hard is it to put a ethernet cable thro your cold air ducks? not hard i tell you, i did it and have been enjoying lag free since i switched from wireless.
