NPD November 2013: PS4 Tops Hardware and Software Charts

So the 360 was out a whole YEAR before the PS3, guess that means PS3 won last gen and SDC. Thank you Sony.

But anyways:

It’s now clear that the launch of PS4 is one for the record books. This afternoon we learned from market research firmNPD Group that PS4 was the top-selling console for November and PlayStation was #1 in sales overall for home consoles. This news comes on the heels of yesterday’s confirmation that the PS4 launch is the biggest ever in the history of game consoles. Ever! And it’s all thanks to you.

It's just nice to see console gaming still thriving after all these years. Congrats to both Sony and MS. Poor Nintendo needs a reboot.

Wii U did awful but I can't say I'm surprised. Nintendo only have themselves to blame.

It improved by 300% and was going up against two brand new consoles, it did pretty good.

So that top 10 software sales is too predictable.

No PS4 or X1 launch exclusive were in the top 10, that's a bad sign.

Wii U actually did pretty decent all things considered.

It really didn't. It's tracking below Gamecube and Dreamcast.

220k is not good. It's pretty bad, the Vita did that last year.

I've been gaming since the 2600 and have a fond spot in my heart for Nintendo, and watching them struggle is killing me.

True manticore, I buy every system and enjoy them all for their strengths. The WiiU is the first console I sold off nearly right after I bought it (at launch). Sad, sad times.

That being said, the 3DS kicks ass. Haha.

I've been having that same feeling about the Vita (got it at launch too). The Vita is an amazing piece of hardware and I cheer it on constantly, but I just have to watch it struggle. It sucks to see...

Only thing I don't have is the PS4 (YET). I couldn't afford $1,000 in the same week for both systems (plus a game each and tax) at launch so I went with XB1. Can't wait to get the PS4, which I'll just get when the holiday madness dies didn't and I can walk into a GS and get one in a few months.

I dunno man, 220k in the same month when the PS4 and X1 were launch seems pretty decent to me.

Not to mention that the only thing that's close to a system seller on the Wii U launched on the last week of the month.

The 360 has considerable more games to play than the Wii U, and cheaper at that too.

M$ just lost their only hope. With NA lost and no hope in Europe or Asia it's PS4 domination all the way :)

They didn't do a $199 holiday bundle.

That pricing is probably the difference between 200K sales, and 1 Million sales. Wii-U might have even had an edge over the next gen consoles at $199. Guess Nintendo doesn't even give a f%^& at this point. I knew that even the PS3/360 would blow them away with their $199 bundles.

They both sold well and if I were you I'd take a chill pill. Just think for a second. The xbox sold 900k+ with only 1 week in November. If you average it out and go by that rate they would've sold 1.8 in two weeks outselling the ps4.

Even if you assume that hypothetically speaking the Xbox one would've dropped to say 600k for the second week they still would've outpaced and beat the ps4. Honestly if I were a rabid cow I'd be a bit annoyed and concerned.

Incredible numbers for PS4 & Xbox 1, as well as for the other systems not named Vita or Wii U.

Wii U numbers are pretty sad since Nintendo has been supporting it (software wise at least) unlike Sony with the Vita.

So i was right demand for the xbox one is not as high as the PS4 one is,those numbers don't lie half a million units advantage already,and MS 9 days of sales failed to beat sony's 24 hours sales by 100k..

if sony didn't sell no more than 1.2 mil they already lost the US 909,000 + Christmas for the x1 is game over in the US The way the shipments have been going I don't see Sony doing any more than that and that's the only reason shipping.
