Too bad it's just standard tech-demo BS. Besides, Fermi is probably going to be expensive as ****.

thanks, exactly this. as long as i don't see ingame footage of a game showing off something like this i won't be excited at all.

U mean:
Console gamingwon't reach this kind of graphics until maybe 2011. But I thinkPC gamingwould reach this detail for next monday.
So next week every other PC games will reach that kind of graphics? Maybe next year with one game...XenogearsMaster
I think someone needs to get their sarcasm detector checked.
Honesty though there is some downplay in this thread, if this was a tech demo for a new console people would be peeing themselves with excitement and declaring the death of PC gaming...
[QUOTE="LordQuorthon"][QUOTE="wolverine4262"]why are they wasting time on scruffy men?! Where are the hot computer generated chicks?!?gamer620
I'll second that.
It is simple. scruffy men actually look real. Perfectly proportioned computer generated chicks look like perfectly proportioned computer generated chicks. The idea is to make it seem realistic without doubt, not add doubt.yeah you can get more detail too like , scars, hair follicles, beards, cuts, mustaches and wrinkles.
It's all in the detail
what i like about PC devs is when they show a tech demo or something, you at least know they WILL achieve those visuals. Not really...[QUOTE="shutdown_202"]

I myself will be getting Nvidia's budget DX11 cards. :3 Hopefully they wont be too much more than ATi's 5750/70, >:[ and I hope DX11 will be worth the wait!
[QUOTE="samuraiguns"][QUOTE="PPresentFortune"]no, next next generation. Next generation (ie PS4 and XBox720) will have at least a fermi-type GPU if history is anything to say about it. completely agree. i personally think the next gen consoles will be amazing. i think they wont be changing consoles very often anymore. they will last longer because graphics have plateaud a bit.UNBELIEVABLE! I think this is a glimpse of what we can expect from next generation consoles.

figures, when will these console people ever figure out that the evolution of 3d gaming and graphics begins and is tied for life with PC gaming. Only later did console companies have to come begging at the foot of PC gaming graphics card manufacturers (ATI/Nvidia) start manufacturing chips for them.[QUOTE="LordQuorthon"][QUOTE="wolverine4262"]why are they wasting time on scruffy men?! With Ray tracing you can make anything look good given enough rendering time. People were making decent pics on 486 with ray-tracers. Intel have tried and so far failed to make a "real time" ray tracer.

ROFL. Ye Megan Fox redminds me of SIMONE, from the film of the same name, she prolly only exists on some hard drive within Fox news.
Not in any way shape or from. GPU Tech demos can never represent what actually happens in a game. That is basically pushing every section of the hardware to make the one image.UNBELIEVABLE! I think this is a glimpse of what we can expect from next generation consoles.

[QUOTE="SAGE_OF_FIRE"]OH man now all we need is some next gen acne! beast667eww, thats probably the last thing we need :P I can see it now: GTA5 where you play as pimple ridden teen, who is part of a street gang.
The difference is, those pictures are technical demos of rendering of a single head. If we exhaust our GPUs on one head or face alone, we wouldn't leave anything for the textures of the walls, floors and outdoors. It's not that current GPUs are that far off from being able to render at that level, but it's just that a typical application of GPUs for games involves more than just rendering one singleface, and more often than not, it's a compromise to intentionally sacrifice detail of faces at that level so that the environment doesn't just look outclassed by the faces in comparison.
****ing japanophiles. I hope you go to japan someday and find out it's not a mystical land of ninjas. What?! You lie! My stepsister went to Japan and it was exactly liek that! She even saw someone try to rob a guy and the guy fought back, they whipped out their swords and engaged in high speed airborne combat, ran across water, jumped over buildings, through some shurikens, and so on. She told me it was exactly like that! Then again, she was drunk... :?[QUOTE="tagyhag"]I LOVE the last pic, it looks like a house in Japan. *Sigh* If ONLY games could be made like this without being at 0.0001 fps. :P I hope it's only 10-15 years away for this to be a reality. :( FalcoLX
Exactly, what people aren't noticing is the backgrounds are completely blurred out. Sure it looks cool, but it also shows that everything that vid card has was poured into that single faceThe difference is, those pictures are technical demos of rendering of a single head. Don't get carried away it's just a pre-rendered tech demo. Anyone remember the Ruby tech demos that ATI had for the HD 2900s? Not even Crysis looked anywhere near that good, and the cards struggled a lot with that game. And remember that Fermi is for supercomputers, it's not really a gamers GPU. So people need to take a deep breath and realize that these are the equivalents of bullshots on steroids.

you do realize that that was realtime though. the reason games dont run that smooth is because of optimization. if a developer spent years optimizing their game for the card they would look like the tech demos.
hate to reive a dead thread but you've all been owned.
that was NOT a fermi/GT300 tech demo. they were stilsl from a video made for the Playground Festival (a digital video film festival). someone obviously doctored the photos with the nvidia logo. here's proof.

if you actually believed the images were real, you deserved to get burned. the whole supercomputer in a card thing? ATI tried that with the 4800 series.
also, the realtime ray-tracing should have been a dead give away that this was BS.
guys, it's fake. it's not a tech demo. it's not even from nvidia. it's a video from a film festival.

Makes sense.
Er... I am pretty sure those are fake. nVidia has NOT released anything new since they revealed Fermi existed a month ago.
Wartzay
it is fake. check my first post a few posts above yours.
Looks great but games wont come close to that. Simply rendering a face is much easier then rendering an entire game scene.
EDIT: guess its fake nm then.
yeah i knew this was fake. the only way that that could be real CG was if it was prerendered much like avatar. Realtime rendering of something that photorealistic is impossible with current hardware. Mental Ray in realtime? come on that renderer isnt even that good & second it is highly unoptomized
