Let's see if any rumors were true. I need to upgrade my gpu, so I hope these surpass my expectations. With mining being dead, I am hoping we don't have the same issues we had with the 3000 series.
Will watch, but there won't be any mention of the 4060ti or the 4070, and those are the only ones i care about.
Why are the GPUs so big and power hungry? I thought they switched to 5nm which should help them compared to last time when they were on 8nm and AMD was on 7nm. Or is it that Nvidia really sh*t the bed with TDP while AMD got much better at it?
Either way, gonna be fun when you think look at the and then notice the consoles at measly 4/9/12TFLOPs marketed as 8K/120.

More power inside a tinier surface = more heat.
The same evolution has been going on for CPUs, the dies have been getting smaller but the fans have been getting bigger.

I'm not pointing to that. I was pointing to them lagging behind AMD in size and power.
ai ai ai ai ai. Nvidia will be the ones creating Skynet. Don't buy their gpu's.
And i hope AMD can compete with dlss3 or their gpu's will be completely irrelevant.
Will there be mid 4070 for a good price?
The games and crap they are showing off are horrible. Who the hell cares about Portal in 2022? What the hell is this dumb Micro Machine racing game that looks bad and I've never heard of?
Plus he keeps talking about products nobody uses.

Dunno about that, not THAT many games use dlss.
More and more do use it. With DLSS3, the developer needs to be stupid not to use it.
900 bucks for the 12gb 4080. Nvidia's really feeling that inflation now. Guess I'm gonna skip this one, but DLSS 3.0 looks mighty good.
How are they getting away with calling that 12GB card a 4080 and not a 4070? They cut waaaay more back than just the VRAM. And those prices are WILD
This feels like a good way to sell through all that 3000 series stock they overproduced. And making the 4000 look almost identical to the 3000 series… I’ve always been pro Nvidia, and I can say this all seems scummy. Thanks AMD!

Holy crap, I didn't know it was THIS gimped. Might as well call that 12gb 4080 the actual 4070.
This is turning into an AI show
He knew it all along.
Oh phuleasseeee, not here too. Let this cult be restricted to Twitter/Youtube/media etc. Don't infest SW with this. We already have enough cultists in SW.
You refused to watch GoW vids. Now its your punishment to hear about Elon Must the Skynet predictor.

I'm an Nvidia guy, but even I can't defend Nvidia's BS...especially what they did to EVGA.
People will be buying these regardless of what they're saying now. I got an RTX 3070 Ti for $670 this past April, I wasn't gonna purchase any 4000 series anytime soon, so I'm happy with what I have. Nvidia knew the prices are insane, so they made DLSS 3 exclusive to the 4000 cards. Hope devs keep using DLSS 2 because this is BS🤬
@davillain:
I've been hearing for awhile now NVIDIA is gonna slash prices and it hasn't happened. I was hearing that the new generation would make it happen cause they would want to clear their old stock. Then the new generation prices come out and they are so insanely high that the old generation prices look decent with a 3090 24gb at $900 currently.
NVIDIA isn't slashing the prices of shit. They wanna cling to those high profit margins. AMD is already cutting prices down and you can find many of their cards for reasonable deals. I was looking at a 6700xt last night for $369. You can find a 6900xt for $700. But NVIDIA's prices remain right where they are.
I'm not buying for a second they are gonna drop prices to move old stock. If it was gonna happen it would have already cause demand isn't coming back anytime soon for expensive cards since crypto mining is dead.
AMD all the way.
Is the thread title a joke on the prices? It has to be a joke....right?
The 4090 is....not actually as bad as i thought it would be (still awful value though as any halo product is). but the 4080s....seriously!? I mean screw it: if you are spending 1200 bucks on a 16Gb 4080 then you may as well go the whole way and just get a 4090. a boat load more cuda cores and an extra 8GB of ram on a wider memrory bus for "just" an extra 400 bucks....feck it why not? don't though...
I suspect this is "we really need to clear out RTX 3090 and 3080 stock so the beatings will commence until they are sold" pricing. It would be pretty insane to buy these at launch at those prices
DLSS 3 (from my brief read on it) looks interesting.
Come on AMD and Intel...pull the rug from under them (though i suspect AMD has a ton of 6900XTs it also needs to get rid of before too long).

Oh crap! Me neither. I thought it was just VRAM. F**k them.
Not planning on overclocking gpu so I'll pick up one of the cheaper models of 4090.
Also upgrading my old i7 5820k oc 4.5ghz 6c/12t. I'm gaming on a lg 4k oled tv and 4k is less cpu bound so I could either buy last gen 8c/16t ryzen 7 5800x, or I7 12700k and save some money, or buy a next gen 8c/16t ryzen 7 7700x, 7800x3d vcache, or a i7-13700K. next gen motherboards and ddr5 both more expensive as well.
I'm interested in doing ps3 and switch emulation cpu is really important here.
