In the 1up podcast they said that they are gonna make it. I wish they would make it third-person this time. The fact that you had all the cool armor sets and you don't really get to appreciate it because the game is meant to be played in first-person sucks !

Do you not mean "The Elder Scrolls V?"

Hopefully, they will drop the crappy Oblivion "appeal to casuals" and go back to Daggerfall/Morrowind style.

Of course I do. But it totally sucks. Not to mention that the game is not really playable in third-person.

Have you not played Morrowind or Daggerfall?  Oblivion is 100% dumbed down for casuals.

I want it like Daggerfall.

161,600 square miles
15,000 Town,Cities,Villiages and Dungeon
750,000 NPCs

Oblivion is 1/10000 that games size

It had 6 different endings too
If it was night you had to scale the town walls to get in cause it was locked or bandits would attack you

 Best quote of the year so far. Run around and hack things to death...never worry about dying because the game's appropriately scaled. Never worry about thinking because there are no options and there's a compass point to tell you exactly where to go (even the exact location of an item inside of a cave!) 'Teh complicated!'

Still the best Elder Scrolls, although I think they should have only enabled fast travel for a handful of major locations. The combat in previous versions was diabolical too.

The next game that Bethesda is working on is the expansion of Oblivion, Shivering Isles n00bcakes. There wont be an Elder Scroll's 5 for a while yet since Shivering Isles is still not even close to being finished.

I don't like PC gaming for the controls, but the fact that it often has real depth in its games and often doesn't pander (and if it does, usually there's an option to disable any help) to the lowest common denominator means PC gaming will always have my respect.

Not to be mean, but Oblivion is not complicated compared to Morrowind. Oblivion is extremely simplified when they are directly compared, and the series suffered because of it. Morrowind is a deeper game than Oblivion, Oblivion is just prettier.

From what I have played of Morrowind [around 10 hours on a friends Xbox, spent a lot of time doing nothing], I found the combat more appealing and in-depth. There were different attacks you could do... many more types of weapons and if I remember correctly... dual-wielding...

The combat in Oblivion is either "hack," "twang" or "cast." I think the only reason I spent so much time playing Oblivion is that I was mesmerized by the pretty graphics and perhaps really enjoyed the Dark Brotherhood.

Oh yes... and I was expecting horse combat the first time I got on Maborel's horse... even Twilight Princess has horse combat... :(

RPGs = favorite genre, to be honest. I bet my computer could even run Morrowind.

Make sure you get the Game of the Year Edition.

Funny that he called it Oblivion 5, but anyways. To those complaining about "dumbing down" Oblivion I understand where you are coming from. However, I still think Oblivion was better then Morrawind. I liked the voice instead of text. I liked knowing where I was going and what I was doing. I didnt like the level scaling.

why?

Random hit points awarded, a lot of the time when you struck it did nothing (I don't care if its early in the game when you're learning skills, it stinks), too many attack variables for each weapon like how you attack exactly (stab/swipe/thrust so on) which is a pain to check. It should just be a simple matter of hitting the attack button and the effect is determined by your attack skill, be it with melee or ranged weapons.

All I know is, I couldn't bear to play Morrowind because of the nonsensical combat system.

Oblivion I loved.

But I agree, the skills could have used some work, and the level scaling was not welcome.

WEll it took Oblivion like 5-6 years to make and now they are busy with the expansion so you shouldn't expect this game in this console generation.

That's exactly how I feel. I mean, I love Oblivion, but the game seemed like it was dulled down for casuals. In morrowind it took my hours upon hours to finishone single mission because I had to find the items on my own. In Oblivion, they basically tell you where everything is, and not to mention the fast travel...They just kind of take away from the adventure that Morrowind had. Morrowind had the boats and silt striders, not fast travel, and I liked that. Oblivion has the horse, and that's it. It would take too long to run across the land with that, and so I really think they should've put in some other mode of transportation, and taken out fast travel.

They are basing that upon the fact that Elder Scrolls games take atleast 4 years to make.

Not really, they talked to one of the devs.
