...with mods

Look at how incredible these mods make the game, they do everything from adding new weapons, fixing the leveling and combat systems, to adding entire new factions and even a flying mount! And best of all, its free!

Mods are amazing, although I haven't had much chance to load custom content in Oblivion I played around with Pyramid Head Mod.

I liked it as normal on the 360... I don't really understand peoples disdain for this game... it's what free roaming rpgs should be striving towards. Could it be better (like in these mods) yes, but very few developers even try now days.

Have you played previous Elder Scrolls games? You might find your question answered there.

Oblivion was incredible at its release in early 2006 . While it wasn't so deep as its forerunner Morrowind, it certainly made up with its incredible graphics, all spoken dialogue and unbelievable realistic fantasy world .

People complaining today should realise that the game is two years old now . Nothing came close to Oblivion at its release back then .

Well I have.

I can't get into Morrowind.

I know that Oblivion hate increases day by day, but it' still one of my favorite game. It's relaxing to play.

No it didn't, and until Crysis came out it was used for Stress Tests on PCs. I just remember when I first bought the game I couldn't run it on full specs, but that's changed now. :)

Most of what makes Oblivion a fantastic game was in previous Elder Scrolls games unfortunately.

yea, I understand,

but on a curve, other rpgs seem to still fall short of oblivion.. IMO.

I still remember meeting Vivi... till this day.. if someone said "HAY OUTLANDER!" I would probably turn around :?

My brother got it for PS3 and I haven't gotten a chance to play it yet but from what I've seen (about 2 hours of someone else playing it) it is absolutely incredible and I cannot wait to be out of school this semester so I can really sit down and explore this world and have fun with this game. :)

I enjoyed it as well; the problem is that extreme hardcore RPG fans don't consider it to be an RPG, which then they use that to say they dislike it, but not my problem if they miss out on a good game. There are also people who don't like the direction that the series has headed in; I prefer a sequel that tries to do something different; otherwise, it's just the same game.

I pretty much hated vanilla Oblivion, okay maybe not hated, dissapointed is prolly a better word. I've been meaning to give the mods a try, I'm just worried that they still won't be enough to fix the game for me and that would mean lot of pointless downloading and installing.

oblivion with mods is an amazing and unique experience. you can sneak like in thief series with all the proper tools, you can decapacitate your enemies and summon lightning storms as a powerfull magician. add to that new quests, thousands of items and you get hundreds of hours of gameplay for free.

Oblivion without mods is an absolutely unplayable piece of trash. Oblivion with mods is really good. This means Oblivion is junk on the PS360. It only became good on the PC after a sufficient amount of mods came out to fix the game's shortcomings.

Also, just because the game is free roaming does not automatically make it good.

Really? :| Because it got an overall average of a 94 on the 360 and a 93 on the PS3. Jezz...it must be a POS if it's in the top ten list for both systems.

The funny thing is that all the reviewers gave the xbox 360 the same or higher score than the PC version, stating that the only difference between them was the controls.

It's a good game. But's it's a god-awful Elder Scrolls game. They actually took out the things in previous games that made them so great. It was a shallow game, and a broken RPG. I only find it playable with liberal application of mods.

I love Oblivion a lot. Haven't beaten it, but I'm working on it.

It was the first game I got when I bought my PS3. I'm thinking of rebuying the GotY edition for 360 to play through Shivering Isles and stuff plus work towards achievements.

But now, after seeing the locales, character customization options, plus the mod that takes away the scaling... I want!!! But I don't know when I would get the money to build a computer...it would be worth it though. Oblivion, Stalker and The Witcher (wanted to play that so badly!!) and it would be epic...

Ah yes, the sure signs that it has become trendy to hate Oblivion and Bethesda are strong in this thread. Coincidentally, also the signs that Bethesda and its games are really popular and aren't going anywhere.
