Oblivion Vs The Witcher

The Witcher is one of the best RPGs of the past few years (or even the past decade) - why does Oblivion have so many votes? :PPlaneforger

I was a big fan of Oblivion/Morrowind also, but having picked up The Witcher Enhanced Edition today i can easily say it surpasses the Elder Scroll series on both story and gameplay. Visuals are great and the music is just stunning as well.

I'm so happy i got my first gaming rig as i probably never wouldve bought this game for my last pc.

Witcher owns Oblivion by a miiiiiiiile. Oblivion is terrible.

Imo anyone calling the witcher a better rpg than oblivion is just ignorant. I finished the witcher and I'm probably not going to touch it ever again tho it was a good game. I'm currently replaying oblivion my fourth time... But I guess its a matter of preference.

Yeah, this isn't a contest. The Witcher beats the living hell out of Mehblivion.

Oblivion was a terrible RPG, but a decent game as a whole package.

The Witcher was the best RPG of the past few years, and an absolutely incredible game.

I'm going with The Witcher.

I think the Witcher because the combat is deeper and the alchemy and leveling system is superior.

Have you even played Oblivion? If so, you have most probably used the face creation system. This applies for all NPCs, and means that each NPC has a unique face. In The Witcher, there are only a few dozen staticcharacter models, just with different clothing.

You don't come across the same people (but with different skins) every time you go into town. These alone make The Witcher a better RPG than Oblivion. As an RPG, Oblivion was absolutely horrid.thepwninator

Witcher is a real RPG, Oblivion is a casualized RPG for the consoles, it is not really a RPG anymore, more like a go around swingning that sword game, the dialogs are laughable and the game extremely repeatitive and wihtout any variety

Only the armors are worth anything in Oblivion, Witcher is great everywhere, and is getting 10x greater in the console versions btw, espeically visually, since it used a DX8 based engine on PC and looked extremely dated

The statement in boldapplies even more to The Witcher thanOblivion. Although I'm not saying Witcher is bad. I like it more than Oblivion. Just that Oblivion is better in that aspect.

you need to delete this thread I bought The Withcher for PC off of steam I already have Oblivion for PC with mods and all the add ons . they are not even close Oblivion is a real PC game and with deadly reflex mod even 10x better . not that it needs it Oblvion out of the box is 10x better than the Witcher can ever hope to be. The Witcher is a stupid point and click fest with the dumbest combat and magic system I have ever seen you have close to Zero control over the story or the player , how the hell was there a thread comparing theses two games ? hell Dark Messiah is a better game. than the Witcher . stupid stupid me I read this thread and thought wow an RPG better than Oblivion and I missed it ? no I didn't it is not even close if you have a crappy console with no keyboard or mouse stick to the Witcher and STFU you stupid idiots .the5thhorsman

Wow zombie thread x3, original date in 07 brought back in mar 09, now dec 09. Impressive little zombie thread.

I can't say for sure because I need to finish the witcher but damn its pretty hard to choose seeing how I enjoy both oh so much. Tough call but at this point its Oblivion by a hair. Might change when I finish Witcher EE but we'll see.

get PC version Oblivion GOTY install a few mods like Deadly Reflexe's and Osuros Oblvion Overhaul orMidas Magic Spells of Aurum and Oblvions Combat system goes from great to completly Epic.

get the Hi-rez texture packs if your PC has ballz and the game looke even better.

tweak the config file a little if your PC has the big memeory ballz and game will run faster and smother .

there is no way you can go from a comepltely Free raoming RPG where your alowed to do whatever you want to a locked in a story plot game and think that's better ,

there's just no way.

I mean just the little things in Oblivion are great like making a zoomer build drinking Skooma and becoming a blinding fast drunken idiot that nobody can catch.

the PC mods catapult Oblvion light years ahead of just about everything still .

The Witcher is an excellent RPG. Oblivion is a weak RPG.

The Witcher is an excellent game. Oblivion is a good game.

The Witcher is a role-playing game with some elements just as good as the old cRPGs. Oblivion is a good action-adventure, the role-playing elements are very superficial, but the action part is very good.

Bethesda obviously dumbed down the series to make it more appealing for non-RPG players. A lot of people praise Oblivion, but most of RPG gamers and The Elder's Scrolls fans got disappointed. The same thing happened with Fallout 3, but the feeling of disappointment is much stronger because Fallout 2 is much deeper than Morrowind is.

That just chopped your credibility down to size. People are entitled to their own opinion, and I have the opposite of yours. I believe The Witcher holds many advantages over Oblivion, such as a more coherent and interesting story, more interesting characters, better combat etc.

Fallout 1 and 2 crushed Witcher. I prefer Oblivion, because i loved Morrowind.awuilfj

I played both I'm not into the Witcher .
