8/10 is still a good score and no one shouldn't even take GS review that seriously and remember, a reviewer is still an opinion who reviews the game and the score gives the viewers an idea what to expect a game.

If you think a game is worth it, go with your guts.

8 is still a good score. The game itself is what really matters in the end.

Pulled a Ni No Kuni 2....still wildly enjoyable I’m sure but shorter shallower story is all.

A solid GS 4.0, 60 meta if a X1 game. :P

Sounds juicy, a cool Switch game. Turn based = ideal for portable too.

Kinda disappointing to me that it's just 8 stories and not like 8 origins that all converge into some greater meaning. Still an 8 is a good and fitting score. I will check it out if and when I grab a Switch.

Not sure what the accumulated hype score was supposed to be, but it sounded like a 9. If that's the case, it didn't hit that mark, so it's considered a flop by System Wars rules, right?

Anyway, I'm disappointed that the story didn't end up being that great, but I wasn't really impressed with it from the demos. I was more into the aesthetics and story.

For those of you that said a 9 or 10 , it flopped ... errrr , you flopped! You know who you are.

might pick it up on a sale a year or two down the line.. or just get it used and much cheaper from somewhere on the internet or local

Just like with TLOU getting an 8/10? At the time, it was just fanboys logic that made fun out of it. I thought it was silly and I see no reason why or how this is consider a flop.

I want someone ( not a sheep ) that will finish this game to tell me about its story because i wanted to play this because of story.

Watched the trailer and saw a few images. Don't have a Switch, so I haven't touched the demo. It looks good.

Is it better than Final Fantasy 15?

If it's on par with Golden Sun and Chrono Trigger, then I am in touching distances of buying a Switch unless a PC version comes out in the future

@omegamaster: I can only speak for the first six hours of the game, but I'm really enjoying it so far.

The combat mechanics are really fun, especially once you get four characters in your party. The path abilities make exploring cities interesting, for the first time in JRPG history. The presentation is great.

As for the story, it's...fine. I haven't seen every plot hook yet, but they're all pretty standard JRPG tropes ("I need to leave the town to perform a holy ritual!", "I need to find my missing master!", "I need to avenge these people", etc.). There are some characters that I really like, and some I am less keen on.

Definitely picking it up next week.

Whilst I enjoyed FFXV for what it was, i'd say it doesn't take much to beat... Especially when SE divied the story up between a movie, anime, and the actual game.

No way it touches GS or CT. That's the golden age of gaming.

Lol, if it isn't a Wii U port the Switch gets 8's all throughout.

Which is bad... Why? Plus, there's the fact that DB Fighter Z, Blazblue, Celeste, etc disproves that stupid remark.

Eurogamer and IGN both complained about how the story didn't tie all eight characters together.

@hiphops_savior: I only read GS review and I haven't check out the other sites and I really don't go to IGN anymore. I'll judge the story tomorrow when I go pick up my copy.

An 8, yup I called it. Can't wait to pick up my copy tomorrow.

All I can say is, just enjoy the game. Story may not be it strong suit, but it sure look like it has solid gaming and a wonderful musical score.

Although, it may have been very challenging to make a deep enriching story, since it's 8 different characters on separate paths. I'm sure if a sequel is made, they'll make it better.

I'm totally okay with that. As long as the game the gameplay is fun enough, I normally don't complain over medicare stories like that anyways.

I get my Switch tomorrow; along with this and Donkey Kong. Looking forward to jumping in! Overall, it seems the game got some solid reviews with the negative being repetition in the beginning; starting with each class and that it can be somewhat linear.

Can't wait to play this on pc! Which will come first I wonder, emulation or paid.

8 is still a pretty good score, though. I am going to play it today ^_^ aaand the whole game is about the number 8 so it's kind of fitting.

What the hell, a month ago on Switch top 10 list there were games with a 7 score because of lack of games ! Wake up ! 8/10 every week.... Splatoon 2 a 9 lol. Just go to Switch top 10 and tell me what you see.

This is literally the only interesting game on the Switch, right now.

EDIT: I lied. There's actually one more interesting game, and that's Xenoblade.
Not because it looks good, but because it has SJWs crying themselves to sleep over it. For that alone I want a copy or two.

The more I hear about this game, the more I want it. It was weird because at first I was certain that I wasn't getting it, but now I'm hyped for it.

I have been playing for the past 5 hours and it is such a great game. I love how you can get the characters in any order you want. I started the game with Alfyn the Apothecary, went south and skipped the dancer and the Warrior and went straight for Tressa the Shopkeeper. Now I have my 2 favorite characters. Everywhere I go people are giving me tons of info cause I have the Apothecary, and everyone is selling me tons of goods cause I have the shopkeeper.

This game really give you that amazing feeling of choice. Next I'm planning to go back to Alfyn's town (there is fast-travel to any location previously visited), skipping over the thief guy and going straight for the Hunter Girl.

It is so funny how much more Final Fantasy this game feels than new-age Final Fantasy games. It is a real joy to see that Square Enix can still make a great JRPG I was starting to doubt that they had it in them.

Simply put: this game is a must have for all old school JRPG fans.

This game is an absolute masterpiece. I started with the Apothecary as well. Playing with my fiance, she's in the middle of the Guardian of the First Flame fight from Ophelia's story.

It is unreal how great it is. I got baited into Therion's story, and man it is so very cool. Looks like the hunter girl is going to have to wait. Thief, Apothecary, and Merchant make for a ridiculous and highly unlikely team comp, and I LOVE IT!! The first boss in Therion's story is beyond great!

Have you fought against the guardian of the flame boss yet? I'm having trouble beating him :O

How close is this game to FF6 is it a lot like it? music good?

It is a cross between Saga Frontier and Final Fantasy 6 in my opinion. I'm 10 hours in, and it is simply the finest RPG I have played in a decade if not more.

The sheer level of choice and freedom that this game offers is unreal. When you play it, make sure you do not skip anything (they ask you if you want to skip the start of stories after the first person you skip, DONT!)

I got my team of 4 (Alfyn, Tressa, Therion, and H'aanit) and it is just so much fun!

It gets 10/10 from me so far.
