Perhaps this is a bit better for ODST impressions. ;)

If I may:

It wasn't the new health system that made the ODST feel like a more threatened combatant than Master Chief. It was the the vibe of being in night time New Mombasa. The dense darkness applied sensory pressure and a contrast to how the game felt during flashbacks. Rookie was a man fighting alone on the streets of New Mombasa. In the flashbacks there were signs and eventually the presence of fellow fighters punching back at the Covenant.Kotaku

Tension is the name of the game. Fantastic news. And it still feels like a Halo game.

Not a bad start. Thoughts?

The fact that Halo has garnered such universal acclaim amongst critics is one of the governing axioms behind my absolute hatred of the gaming media.

This game will score nines and tens across the board, and will still be the same well polished albiet generic and uncreative game we've been playing since Combat Evolved.

I learned my lesson- I'll pass on ODST.

Sounds really good. The campaign is definitely a full campaign. The Firefight is only half a mode :/ and multiplayer is Halo3s. I don't know if it's a "full game" But there is definitely enough in there for $60, especially with the inclusion of the DLC maps

And because the modern standard for requisite content to be considered a 'full game' is pathetically minimal.

Most 'full games' nowadays are half the length of most 'expansion packs' from the late 1990's.

Everybody has an opinion:

http://www.gameswire.net/news/reviewer-odst-is-underwhelming_316.html

"You just look at it and think 'so what?'. Sure, the multiplayer is fun (it's Halo after all) but it's all built on an old engine (which looks pretty much untouched) and looks nowhere near as good as games such as Gears of War 2 or Killzone 2. It smacks of no effort and is a teensy bit cynical. [Microsoft] needed a big franchise title for this Christmas and presumably there wasn't enough time to build something new, so they gave us new missions on old, ageing technology that didn't really look that great first time round."

The full campaign, addition of multiplayer maps and a new multiplayer mode helps.

But TF2 adds maps and new modes all the time as DLC. That's why it isn't worth $60, because we get stuff like that for free from other developers.

I don't think it's a "full game" but I think it's worth the $60.. You could definitely do worse. There are plenty of "full games" that have less content and aren't worth the $60.. Microsoft is the one pitching the price tag and the "full game" stuff, obviously. But Bungie is at least making it worth it

This argument is tiresome, who cares if it is labeled expansion or full game. It seems like it has enough content to be a full game and that is all that matters. I haven't bought any DLC maps for Halo 3 so this is going to be a nice purchase for me. The people that are complaining about "expansion" and what not won't even purchase the damn game so stop complaining.

the story got bigger then expect and Bungie fleshed it out to be longer then originally anticipated. Do you seriously know NOTHING about this game since it's initial announcement?

I do believe it was originally slated at 4 hours. I can't find any links though, so I could be wrong. However, I'm fairly sure it wasn't originally supposed to be 6-8 hours long. This is a good article if you're interested in learning more about the development and evolution of ODST.
