Not a good start...might still flop even with it being hyped a measly AA.
It depends on how the reviewer feels about technical graphics versus the artistic assets. The preview in the OP didn't find the graphics to detract much from the playing experience, but who knows?
Anyway, I'm still excited for this game. I hope the soundtrack is on par with the rest of the series has offered.
[QUOTE="Jandurin"][QUOTE="musicalmac"] Well I have good news, sir. This is a full game.aaronmullanonly because it costs 60 dollars Exactly. It was an expansion until MS realised they could get more money out of it.. Have you played it yet? MMMM no I dont think so, maybe wait until it comes out, okay?

I watched a video about the music on GameTrailers. It was fantastic, shouldn't be anything to worry about there.
[QUOTE="Nedemis"][QUOTE="12345yon"] lol, wasnt my point: ODST was announced as an expansion to tie-in what happen between halo 2-3, while heavenly sword and mirrors edge arent tie ins or expansions, i dont see the similarity between this games and ODST the similarity is that this supposed "expansion" offers more SP game time and actually has multiple MP aspects as well. This "expansion" offers more game then over 90% of this gens current "full" titles. If I could elaborate- ODST is roughly the same length as games like Heavenly Sword and Mirrors Edge. However, only ODST includes multiplayer options, including new maps and a new mode of play. That's why neither HS nor ME are full games if ODST isn't.

Question...are you able to run now? I was playing Halo 3 and it feels so weird not to be able to run in a FPS now a day.
no, you cant run, and the controlls changed, and there are no special nades like the shield one or the healing one, just one that blinds you, one that throw fire and one that hurt you...[QUOTE="kolkov01"][QUOTE="12345yon"] neither heavenly sword nor mirrors edge expand the storyline of an existing game....12345yonso you're saying sequels are not games  lol, wasnt my point: ODST was announced as an expansion to tie-in what happen between halo 2-3, while heavenly sword and mirrors edge arent tie ins or expansions, i dont see the similarity between this games and ODST ? Well apparently you bought ODST.... whyd you buy it if its just an "expansion"?
So, nobody likes the idea that it's a darker Halo game? A more mysterious game with an interesting story? I liked the sounds of all of those things. musicalmacOf course. The cartoony style of Halo was a bit over done in 3, so this is a good change.
Perhaps this is a bit better for ODST impressions. ;)
If I may:
[quote="Kotaku"]It wasn't the new health system that made the ODST feel like a more threatened combatant than Master Chief. It was the the vibe of being in night time New Mombasa. The dense darkness applied sensory pressure and a contrast to how the game felt during flashbacks. Rookie was a man fighting alone on the streets of New Mombasa. In the flashbacks there were signs and eventually the presence of fellow fighters punching back at the Covenant.musicalmac
Tension is the name of the game. Fantastic news. And it still feels like a Halo game.
Not a bad start. Thoughts?
I cannot wait. I hope it is a tense game, I could see the nighttime skirmishes being very frantic and awesome.

MMMM no I dont think so, maybe wait until it comes out, okay? Have you played it? I doubt that. Your the one making assumptions about an unreleased game that we havent gotten the chance to play yet. Plus, like I said before, this game offers more content than a game like Heavenly Sword which was 60$ when released. No one complained about that. Bottom line is it is a Halo game which garners a ton of hate, and the fact that it was originally called an "expansion" and is now a full game apparently gives anti halo fanboys ammo to bash it. Either way, the game will probably end up in the 8's, and all anti-halo fanboys will claim ownage and there will be a million threads on here saying how the 360 is doomed and all this crap.
i tought it wasnt going to be an "expansion" but after playing it, i really dont know how it can be a full game, but since it have multiplayer + all the maps, thatt saves it12345yonSo then you would agree Mirrors Edge and Heavenly Sword are not full games! Interesting...

So, nobody likes the idea that it's a darker Halo game? A more mysterious game with an interesting story? I liked the sounds of all of those things. musicalmacThere won't be a "dark" halo game until they get rid of the two feet tall enemies that sound like 12 year olds and gorrillas in armor. Any chance of Halo being "mysterious" was ruined when they made part of the covenant speak english and ally with the Humans.
I'll believe it when I see it :PJandurinWell you don't like Halo to begin with, so I don't know how much I can trust you... *stares intensely*

Interesting... by his logic wouldn't that mean that uncharted 1 isn't a full game?
I watched the early gameplay videos, and although I'm pretty sure the guy was playing on easy, I'm still disappointed that the ODST aren't more vulnerable. They keep stressing that the ODST are not Spartan level soldiers in training nor technology, yet they've kept things relatively the same with the regenerating health. I'm sure it'll be a solid title, but I wish it distinguished itself a little more.
I agree with you on that. I do wish there was a more radical difference between being the chief and an ODST. I was hoping it would play more like SWAT mode.I watched the early gameplay videos, and although I'm pretty sure the guy was playing on easy, I'm still disappointed that the ODST aren't more vulnerable. Only you stamina regains health, not your health bar, from here: "Stamina will recharge with time, but health won't"I watched the early gameplay videos, and although I'm pretty sure the guy was playing on easy, I'm still disappointed that the ODST aren't more vulnerable. The length of the Single player, the new multiplayer, and new Halo 3 maps. Offers more content then a lot of games out there today.

Same with ODST.

there are plenty of expansions that do the sameI'm still not sure wether or not to get this. I didn't care about it at all until about a week ago, and while I played and enjoyed Halo 3, I played so much multiplayer that I don't think I ever need to play another Halo game again. I'll wait for the reviews before I decide if I'll get this. Even then, it won't be on launch day, so maybe waiting for a price drop is the best option.

Okay I answered your question, now answer mine.
Hmm... seems like it might be worth a rent/borrow. When I read "new health system" I was like: :D But then after it was basically a different take on regeneration I was like: :(
Though, it seems different in terms of design and atmosphere to the previous Halo games, which I disliked heavily due to the constant running-n-gunning. This seems like there might actually be a story worth paying attention to.
Alright so whats the definition of an "expansion"?h575309Apparently, it's a game that retails at full price. The point that I cut out of your quote is a durned good one, though. Which aaron answered :o
It should definitely not be compared by itself to other games (because halo 3 exists and most people who bought halo 3 are going to buy halo odst, not many newcomers I think tbh). So the multiplayer imo should be nulled out of the equation and should just compare the halo 3 sp versus halo odst sp and firefight alone. If it is a great experience rate it accordingly. I don't want to see these reveiws which give it a 9.5 not because halo odst is good but because halo 3 multiplayer is so vast and huge. It really misjudges the readers audience
