Not to be mean, but you guys voting for stalker are either blind or just love the game. I liked Stalker a lot, but Stalker is built on a 4-5 year old graphics engine. Im not saying its ugly, its not. But it isnt Next generation graphics as in the list7fold

Stalker may not be the best technically, but the open ended levels, immersive atmosphere and environment with a lot of detail make it *good* looking.

If you want to go by pure technical superiority, there are a ton of graphic mods for STALKER which vastly improves the graphics.

Also the cool thing about stalker is that the gameplay is great and it was made by a very very small dev team. Thats one solid dev team.chester706

It is a great looking game :) I agree. And I didnt know about the updates to make it look better. Still though in terms of graphics its not in the same list. Ill give you SMG not being next gen, it has great art though. But ya I would consider Oblivion Next Gen.

speaking from an artistic "end product" point of view (ie technical not considered)

I think its a great game to, and looks really good. I am just saying its not cutting edge graphics. What they did with the engine is awesome. But it still dont take away from the fact that it iswas made for DirectX8.1/9.

So plz dont think im saying I dont think it looks good, Im just saying that it doesnt stack up to the newer games in terms of graphics. That doesnt mean its inferior or doesnt look great. It just means that the newer games that was on that list where made from better graphics engines. That is all:)

Where do you get these graphic mods that you speak of? And are they safe to use also can I use them even if I got it off of Steam.chester706

Just follow the instructions provided with the mods carefully and you should be fine. Read the support files to check for compatibility. I think they'll work for all versions.
