It flopped and I have seen it hyped AAA by some, AA by most. There is some major damage control happening by resident lemmings at the moment and they just need to suck it up and accept the ownage.

I admit ownage, I predicted around 8.4.

It was hyped because the demo was fun, makes me worried about other fun demos you can just mess around with over and over and the final product ending up flopping.

I don't see this damage control. I see 2 people talking about scores from other sites. everyone else is like "meh...I liked the game...I'll buy it anyway" or are simply apathetic. damage control is really non-existant. Lemmings seem to have taken it and have already moved on. It's the trolling Cows that keep stupid points going and stupid threads alive with teh spam posts and "TLHBO" spam messages.

oh, and I got owned too. certainly no big deal. people play GAMES, not SCORES. just like any other game, people have enjoyed A games (Chromehounds) and hated AAA games (Oblivion). all depends on your taste. if you liked the demo, pick up the game. otherwise, it's not for you. and the party continues...

I guess I've been owned, I think I hyped it 8.0-8.5, or something like that, now I'm gonna have to decide whether to buy a flopped game for the halo 3 beta ,or save my money. *sigh* decisions.

yea man. if this were about Halo 3 or Mass Effect, Lemmings would have been owned, and Cows would have ample reason to be hyped over the ownage. but going crazy on Lemmings over a game hyped as nothing more than AA? It's like a fit of desparation. Like a passive-aggressive move that came out because of repressed anger over the last few months of PS3 hardships of something. bizzare, I tell you.

Yeah, I thought it'd be in the 8.0 - 8.3 range. Soy el "owned" I suppose. I'd say overall though this has been taken pretty well by the "Lemmings." Truth is though this game wasn't really "hyped" in the sense that Crackdown wasn't really a high profile release say on the level of Halo 3, Mass Effect, or even Heavenly Sword or Motorstorm for that matter.

I don't remember if I hyped this at all. I don't feel like going through 18 pages to find out. If I did, yes a flop, it's pretty much obvious why they included Halo 3 beta, tie the pork chop around the ugly kids neck so the dog plays with him...

many people liked the demo. I'm one of them. It's a day-one purchase for me. the score of a reviewer here does not impact my buying decisions. I'm a grown man capable of making my own decisions based on what I like. wish everyone would.

most of those threads were parody threads, throwing the fact that Gamespot is NOT biased back in the face of those who have claimed this to be LemmingSpot for months. they grade 360 games just as hard as PS3 games. PS3 games simply haven't been up to snuff. But Cows probably still won't admit it.

Still, I can kinda see why, while I hated it, all my friends loved the demo and thought it would be awsome. They'll all probably buy it anyway.

The large majority of these reviewed games are very much insignificant when it comes to ownage/damage control. Crackdown is no exception to this trend. If I were the cows, I'd hold my horses (pun intended) until the big hitters arise. If Bioshock, Halo 3 or especially Mass Effect flops, then you'l have something to party over. Right now you're just reaching for argument material. And by the way, Mass Effect is the ONE game in a while that I'm confident to officially hype. If Mass Effect flops, I am absolutely and inexorably owned, but even if such a fate were to befall it, I'm sure I'd still have a blast playing it.

Floppage aside, it's still a good game and should sell well regardless, because of the beta. You guys remember Prey. These games could be compared/contrasted relatively well if you think about it. Both were reviewed by Gerstmann (I know, big surprise by some :roll: ). Both got in the 7 range. Both have great ideas but didn't live up to their full potential. Unlike Prey, Lemmings are taking this relatively well; in contrast there was some serious damage control over Prey's review. Unlike Prey, I would actually like ideas from Crackdown to be incorporated into future sandbox games (e.g. co-op, vertical spaces for gameplay/exploration, non-linear bosses, RPG growth over time) We should just accept the ownage and move on. The thing about xbox fans this gen, quaility games (i.e. A-AAA) seem to come out one after the next. Soon we'll start hyping Guitar Hero II, get through the hype, then Forza 2, get through the hype, Bioshock, rinse and repeat, etc. MOVE ON, PEOPLE! *goes back to Crackdown demo*

I think they gave it a 7.8 because that's what the reviewer felt the game deserved. And I have never had a problem with any of them...
