Now that most of the big games have been released and scored, with exception of Mass Effect, Uncharted, and Crysis (dont think im forgetting any others). I think its time to start looking at what will this years Game of the Year be?

So far i believe the nominees are:

Half-Life: Orange Box 9.5

Mario Galaxy 9.5

Bioshock 9.0

Halo 3 9.5

Call Of Duty 4 9.0

World in Conflict 9.5

Zelda: Phantom Hourglass 9.0

What do you guys think? What game do you think will be GOTY and why?

These are the 3 I assume to still be in the running, and I'm being generous putting halo 3 up there.

Even though the PC has most game of the year awards, I want Crysis to win!

i dont think itll go to a handheld or a last gen system. it would be an embarassment if GoW2 got it, even as good as it was. you have the whole next-gen wars going on, and a last gen game gets GOTY :shock: theyll bever do it.

Just think of all the fanboys who claimed Crysis was nothing more than shiny graphics.

Even if it doesn't win, which it won't, I think we'll see a lot of backstepping on their parts when the review comes out.

If Mass Effect is as good as Mass Effect: Revelations then it should definitely get GOTY in my opinion.

Anything but Halo. Not that it's not a worthy contender...I just don't want to lose my bet. :P I really don't care about GOTY that much.

Half-Life: Orange Box 9.5, good score but i doubt goty since it got score as a package and no single game in the package is a goty since hl2 is remake, and ep1/2 are expansions, portals a puzzle game, tf2 is fun but just multiplayer and not too many maps and what not

Halo 3 and Mario Galaxy are the top contenders for now, but Assasin's Creed, Crysis, and Mass Effect all have a shot.

Honestly though, it all depends on Mass Effect. If it gets a 9.5 it will win for sure. New IPs usually do better in the GOTY race, and it seems to be the most ambitious game of the bunch.

great run down. yea i wasnt gonna put in zelda or God of War 2. i know neither of them will win GOTY. zelda will probably win Handheld GOTY, and God of War will win PS2 GOTY, but neither will win Overall GOTY. i wouldnt count Bioshock out so easily. it may suprise some people

It's been a long while since we had a platformer of this caliber.

Mario Galaxy or Mass Effect

im going to go with either galaxy or bioshock. i would say orange box, but i dont think itll get it since its basically an expansion, and while portal was absolutely amazing, its really a mini game or add on. it is great, but its all added on to a 3 year old game. i would love to see it get it, but i think galaxy and bioshock are more deservingazshorty2003

you forgot about TF2 it owns and is the best multiplayer game of this year, so far

it'll probably be between bioShock, Mass Effect, maybe Halo, Mario, Unreal III, maybe Uncharted, maybe the Orange box, Crysis and God of War II
