Losing teams must wear an Ownage sig created by the winning team for 1 month. The ownage Sig cannot be anything against the TOS. If none of these teams win and a game is picked that's not on our list then all teams will not lose However, all teams must then post in a thread created by KCPP2B praising the winning GOTY that is not listed in this Group Bet.

Now that most of the big games have been released and scored, with exception of Mass Effect, Uncharted, and Crysis (dont think im forgetting any others). I think its time to start looking at what will this years Game of the Year be?

Come on where is everybody? i wanna hear everyones predictions, not just from the poll either. not every game is listed in the poll.

what games do you think Shouldn't win game of the year, and why?

ive already stated i dont think halo should win, how about everyone else?

I'd say either Mario galaxy or Halo3 but that depends on how good Mass effect and Crysis turn out.

Out of these games I would say Mario has the best singleplayer and Halo3 multiplayer will probably be the game people are still playing 3 years from now.

im still waiting on that score. but if it scores high, it looks like most people are going with either mass effect or galaxy. only heard a few serious fanboys say halo so far.

Where is LAIR?? LAIR is DEFINATELY a shoe-in for GOTY, or possibly GOAT! It's just so AMAZING what the PS3 can do.... I'm running out to buy ANOTHER PS3 RIGHT NOW! JUST because ITS SO FREAKING AMAZING!!! I want to be able to play 2 games of LAIR at the SAME TIME! YEAH! WOOOOO!!!!!

i wanted to put COD 4 in there, but there werent enough slots. and TF2 isnt listed at all because its part of orange box, which i wish i couldve put in the pool too. there arent enough slots for a GOTY poll. :(

Between Mass effect and Mario.

Halo is overrated. At least Halo 3 is. Halo 1 and 2 were amazing. 3 is pretty garbage.

Bioshock sucks. Yes its amazing at in the audio/visual department, even the story is pretty wicked. But the gameplay? It sucks. Bioshocks gameplay is utter poo. It was unimaginative for such a great game. Seriously, Bioshocks GP was a 4/10.

Crysis? Maybe. Probably not though. Great game but I dont see it happening.

Orange box... Nah. Portal is great, TF2 is great. But I dont see those being goty worthy. Maybe portal if it was longer.

COD4. Dunno havent playes it. I doubt it though. Probably a runner-up. After all its a 9.0

Definately Mass effect and SMG. Which amazing both feature storylines and gameplay dealing with galaxies. Lawl. Im thinking its going to be Mass effect here, and probably SMG over at IGN. I cant wait to play Mass effect though, I loved the first KOTOR and this looks even better.

I am thinking either bioshock or galaxy. Bioschock because of its great story telling, art direction and atmosphere. galaxy because of its diverse level design, tight controls and giving us platform lovers something worthy to play!

I am not going with halo 3 because i think it is a good game but a big repeat and same thing with prime 3 which i totally loved but it is just a repeat no matter how good it is.

the orange box is just an expansion pack there fore i dont think it deserves game of the year.

and mass effect i have pre ordered but i have not had any hands on with it to really make up my final verdict.

halo 3 was good but doesn't deserve it IMO

can't talk about Crysis because I know very little about the game

so far, the games that most deserve the award are Bioshock or SMG (can't say which till i've played SMG, but it sounds like it's living up to the hype)

orange box is also just an expansion/port really, and so shouldn't be considered IMO

as for Mass Effect, it doesn't have as much of a wow factor as the previous two titles mentioned .. in fact, Assassin's Creed has more promise IMO, and could be a GOTY contender if there aren't any big issues with the game

Hmm, the game that is the only clear-cut awesome game in it's genre, or the game that is the best of an over-crowded genre.

thats what i was thinking, but to me mass effect if really the only game we need a final score on. the other games coming soon are sure to be good, but i think mass effect is the only one thats a real contender for GOTY. i know its gonna be good, but itll have to be great in order to beat Galaxy. well see. review should be up in a little over a week hopefully, with any luck before the game is released.

WiC should win, it's the only game that Gamespot couldn't find any bad things about, of course SMG is going to win, because it's Mario. Because the only thing that counts more than gameplay is nostalgia.mikemil828

Look guys, I will tell you what SMG will win (from obvious - to less obvious):-

1. Wii game of the Year ... ( o.. rly ?)

2. Platformer of the Year.. (o .. rly ?)

3. Best original Sound track: Being the first Mario game with an orchestra, and actually sounds something else

4. Gamers voted game of the year, unless the hordes of Halo fanboys flood it, it will win it.

5. GOTY: I definitely think its the most deserving for the following reasons: 1. Most original concept of gameplay (spherical platforms), 2. the game that took most risks (even though mass effect might beat it in that),Imagine what would happen if the concept of spheres flopped, or wii mote wasn't implemented well? It could've been the last high profile game, just read this (3rd paragraph) to see that EAD tokyo was considering shutting down the studio if the game flopped. 3. Most fun, 4. Itsa me .. Maaaario !! Mamamia ... I deserve GOTY.

However ... SMG winning goty is not definite, but it will win the 4 awards i mentioned earlier (95% possiblity), it might win best gameplay mechanic, best returning character if there is such award.

At any rate it will definitely be a nominee in the following categories: GOTY, games poll GOTY, best original soundtrack.

I didn't put Wii game of the year, or platformer of the year ... because it will be a waste of time ..

MY VOTE GOES to SUPER MARIO GALAXY ... Mario did so much for us gamers, we owe him this much .. he deserves the recognition, it might actually be miyamoto's last main Mario game ... though I hope he will still be around for a couple years to come ..

well ive updated the scores. were still waiting on mass effect, which is a big one. but we now have the crysis score. its looking like anyones ballgame right now. lots of 9.5's and a few 9.0's. its gonna be a good fight. well have to wait and see.

p.s. should i remove halo 3 from the list and put something else up since no one is voting for it?
