This is the first game to actually make me consider getting of my high horse and purchasing a 360.
But I keep on assuring myself that it wont be as good as Baldur's Gate 2, it's worked thus far.
EDIT: How's S.T.A.L.K.E.R?
yeah i say this game will get 8.0-8.5 an is will not betriple A on gamespot imoProtossRushX
it has to get AAA here
I hurd it's only 5 hours long if you stop playing it after five hours.InsaneBasura
Lol. This game is the suckzores.
Now for those that have actually played it, I read on the Mass Effect BioWare forums that they decided for slowly popping in textures instead of frequent loading screens. What are you thoughts/opinions on that?
You must be a lemming. RRODs happen as soon as you plug in the console. ...lemmings lately.how do you finish a 10 hour game when the 360s adverage life span before rrod is only 8 hours?

It's not that bad,it happens more then it did with GeoW but it shouldn't bother you that much.

It's definatly worth the price of a 360 but the entire time your playing you will be wishing you could play it on your PC. In time it will drive you insane and you will crack like I did

Thanks, and the way its explained it sounds completely reasonable. Also, there could be a lot of worse things that could happen then some low notice texture popping.
Reviews don't matter on this game... its going to be the finest experience in our medium this year and maybe next year. We'll see if Gamespot remembers that when they "review" it...

Yeah no problem. Reassured me greatly when I read that.

As stated, it's an issue with how the Unreal 3 engine handles streaming in textures when the game runs. It's not something we can simply patch, we've already optimized it as much as possible - one could argue that ME is a much larger game than GoW or BioShock.
It does depend on the transition from one spot to another though, as a load game on different world would cause the engine to have to clear out the old data and load up the new, causing the delay to be longer.
And, load screens can get more annoying since we spread the load over the course of the level. You'd see "Loading" windows pop up constantly and halting all gameplay as you move from one end of the Citadel to the other, instead of the textures gradually loading in, but still allowing you to move about.Brian Chung - Tree Artist
Brian doesn't reallystate this, but is this only for indoor environments or when you're running around the worlds?

I'd say both as he mentions the Citadel and different world seperately. Although as you'll be in similar areas for a good amount of time, I'd hopefully think it won't be that much of an issue. Or we could just go get some munchies and let them all prefectly load if we get really worried.8)

Brian does mention Gears, which doesn't have too much of a texture streaming problem it only shows when you go through a checkpoint or in the beginning of a cutscene.

If true, Bioware should fix the texture pop-ups and maybe the framerate. Still, Mass Effect is going to be a great RPG. :D

remember a preconceived notion? :|
a lot of people over at the bioware forums are reporting that the 12 hour length is ridicuolous and some are past that and have only just graced the main storyline.Big_player
Chespace on NeoGaf dropped 13 hours into sidequests and grinding alone before the main quest. 43 hours total.

Your intelligence is astounding.
I'm guessing 9.5 here. Really don't care what it gets, the game looks amazing.

So around 25-30 hours for the main quest alone, and about 40-50 for everything? Thats respectable.

Thank god for actual estimates, I'm tired of hearing about how the game is 12 hours just on the main story alone .
