I hate it. Â Dear Microsoft: if I wanted a Wii, I'd play the one I already have.
That said, I love the sweet sound of silence from the DVD drive now that Fallout 3 is installed. Â It's just a shame that we can't get the new tech improvements without a heap of flashy garbage being sent along with it.Â
How do you guys get those sigs. I can't find it on mygamercard.netSnowboarder99
under theme it's under NXE

apparently there are some problems with the market place.
anything else going on?Â
Not too bad, not too good there are problems like any firmware update mostly from the fact i've grown used to the past 3 years of blades and regular old menus, from xbox live being congested today from so many millions downloading the update to the fact that avatars while having clothes and other stuff over Mii's dont have the facial options that Mii's do...Menus load quicker though and install to hard drive is AWESome, and being able to remove 0 point games you never intend on playing from your list is great too.
P.S: nearly all xbox live errors and marketplace ones can be linked directly to the fact millions are downloading the update right now and thats causing congestion give it time and it will clear up.
8 party chat works like a dream. No more push to talk in Halo. the only problem is that is messes up the gameplay in Gears for when your in death cam. You can communicate with your teamates.

This is the best part of the update imo. Â I'm already making good use of the party chat. Â Nice move MSÂ

8 party chat, XNA games, and installing are the only things I was looking forward too. I was going to be more excited about the avatars, but they delayed the primetime games.Guess I'll post my story in here as well:
When I first heard about the NXE bricking older consoles I decided to get out my launch 360 which had been put away after freezing a few times on me and I purchased a new 360 for the HDMI port and the latest chipset. It loaded up just fine but when the video started it froze. I restarted the 360 and it just sat there doing nothing, the controller wouldn't connect and nothing would appear on the screen, so I clicked it off again and then turned it back on to find it flashing the RROD at me. I was rather surprised and picked up the phone and gave Microsoft a call.
They took care of everything for me and they are covering all costs for the repair/replacement of the console. I would be annoyed over my 360 dieing during this but I have my backup 360 so I could really care less at this point since I keep on playing Far Cry 2, Fallout 3, and Left 4 Dead with no issues. Despite the problems involved with this Microsoft did a great job taking my request and getting me the info I needed. I give Microsoft props for handling my issue so well and not giving me any trouble for what happened. Also they said it would be 3-4 weeks from when I ship off my 360 that I'll have it back in my hands, so I'll keep everyone up to date of what is going on how well this is being handled.
Also for anyone who doubts this, check my posting history and you'll see I'm a 360 supporter and have been for a long time, this is the first time I'm having major issues with my 360 and I'm rather pleased with how it was handled.
It's pretty sweet. It's smooth and slick, but I sorta miss the old dashboard. I think it was easier to navigate in(Maybe because this is new to me.) I also like the 8-party chat and I also messed around with my avatar :P
I'm satisfied. Though, the change wasn't needed but nice to have.
Oh and the intro after the update finished downloading was awesome :)
Downloading NXE was so fast, it opened with a colorful introduction, have a nice selection of customization, I deleted all the games with 0 gamerpoints, I installed Gears of War 2 onto the harddrive, joined a party, and it's pretty slick jumping into games.
I like how the party can join a game one minute and the next can view pictures together and watch movies in an instant. It's like you're not in a virtual world so you don't need to walk around to places and meet up, you're there in NXE already.
I bet Sony is already taking notes and planning to borrow features from NXE and implement them in Home.

dont you still leave from the game to watch videos?Â
I was looking foward to the 8 party chat for games like CoD4, but games like Gears of War 2 it is going to suck. Last weekend I encounter a opposing team where everyone knew each other. One of them ended up calling his friend who was still alive to tell what my team was doing.8 party chat works like a dream. Hopefully Epic will take out the free roam cam like how they took made it where you can only look at your surviving teammates.Â

or they can just ask microsoft to disable party chat while playing gears of war 2.

Ouch, man that sucks.. I wonder how bad the update was to consoles... freezing, slow downs.. etcÂ
M$ Screwed up again? :o
You could always turn that off...It looks nice, and I installed Bad Company, but have yet to try it out on thd HDD. I only have room for one game at this time.
Oh, and I am sooo glad the disc auto-start can be turned off now.
Mordred19
Silence is golden. I just finished installing Banjo and the game started up and my launch unit was making no noise. It was amazing!
Banjo also runs without a hitch now, but I really want to buy a bigger HDD now, if only to make my most played games run in silence.Â
I also enjoy the Avatars more than the Miis, but I wish you could change the color of your clothes. >_>
Has anyone noticed loading decreases? I tried Dead Rising and it's the same :( I'm installing Mass Effect now hopefully I will see improvements in that. At first I wasn't happy that MS wanted lose the blades for a new theme but I like it. I think it looks awesome.SOedipus
Fable2 loads a bit faster but nothing to write home about
[QUOTE="XxSTILL_BORNxX"]The NXE is sick , heck the intro was more then enough.:Pdesyplesomeone is easily pleased:)
you been talking to my gf
I have a feeling once word get around with these Avatars, XBL subscriptions will increase. I'm planning to make a couple more of profiles for the neices and nephew.

The entire aesthetic. Â The sound effects (those that aren't carried over from the previous dashboard), the graphics (lots of glow), and yes, the ridiculous, useless, Mii knock-off avatars.I only hope they don't make me interact with that crap ever again. At least if you hit the guide button, you can get back to a sensible interface that doesn't waste time loading 3D models when all you need is a simple text listing of your friends and what they're playing.
