9.5 thanks to the Wi-Fi.Tjeremiah1988wrong he Wifi is more like Kid Fi you need FC to play online and that not a good thing Animal crossing has a simlilar setup and trust me just getting random FC from online or even websites doesn;'t help since no knowing when those people will play. if they had an online lobby then it would be AAA but it's gnna be AA sorry.

Even if it doesnt have a lobby it still has worldwide trades, without the needs of friend codes. And the online battle/trade component is a big jump for the series regardless of how it works. Either way I'm still guessing its AA also.
anywhere from 8.4 to 8.8
wifi elements will boost the score seeing as it hasn't been done in any pokemon games before.

If you have FCs, you and friends can be ina lobby, battle and chat, or you can go to place in the game and set your team up to battle other people.
as my sig clearly states, "im a hypin Pokemon AAA".
o and you only need a FC if you want to battle, and chat with a specific person. Random battles are chosen by rank. andthere is like a trading market where you post who you want and are willing to trade... FC are basically if u want to be garunteed a match or trade with a friend.

do you know what that means? it doesn;t mean 100% of kids will play it. it means only kids will utilize the game 100% to the max. how many kids at school have a DS? alot more than the few people who work than me(only 1 person i know has a DS. if i was younger i would know 20 or more kids i can get a FC from. and going around asking kids for there FC is not something i wanna do. so i'll just skip the game that Nintendo is Catering to kids.[QUOTE="yoshi_64"]wrong he Wifi is more like Kid Fi you need FC to play online and that not a good thing Animal crossing has a simlilar setup and trust me just getting random FC from online or even websites doesn;'t help since no knowing when those people will play. if they had an online lobby then it would be AAA but it's gnna be AA sorry.[QUOTE="peacebringer"][QUOTE="Tjeremiah1988"]9.5 thanks to the Wi-Fi.Shinobishyguy

no your wrong you need FC to fight anyway shape or form and it's because nintendo is affraid older people will try to seduce younger people or just be vulgar. . this is my only thing i dislike about this game. it will hurt the score. you may have heard you don't need FC but i read in 4 reviews you do need FC to battle online in anyshape other than local wireless play.(so they have to be 40 feet from you woot)[QUOTE="Shinobishyguy"][QUOTE="yoshi_64"]wrong he Wifi is more like Kid Fi you need FC to play online and that not a good thing Animal crossing has a simlilar setup and trust me just getting random FC from online or even websites doesn;'t help since no knowing when those people will play. if they had an online lobby then it would be AAA but it's gnna be AA sorry.[QUOTE="peacebringer"][QUOTE="Tjeremiah1988"]9.5 thanks to the Wi-Fi.yoshi_64

I admit the battling with only FC is dumb. And the fact that its the FIRST online Pokemon also stands, so its actually a nice change regardless. Kids can easily get FC online or in person. And they CANT be seduced by simply having a battle if it were random matches. :|
this might be a stupid question...but whats the difference between wifi LAN and wifi? ShinobishyguyIt's just really "LAN" 0r "Infrastructure" Wi-Fi is just the type of signal used to communicate the systems.
LAN stands for "Local Area Network" where in it does not connect to the internet to utilize some server to handle the data transers and allow people from afar to play. That's "Infrastructure" LAN basiaclly is just Link Cables without the link cables.. well for the DS, for systems they use ethernet cables."
"Infrastructure" is just online play, and means you don't have to restrict yourself to just anyone in your vicinity, but all over the internet. Nintendo tends to coin this "Wi-Fi" or their "Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection" and "LAN" play is just "Wireless" play from Ninty's terminology.
WOW. You're wrong. Nintendo Power and other sources themselves already stated. You only need friend codes to chat during battles, but battling and trading can be done with a random person. Stop trolling.Mikazukinoyaiba"Connectivity to Pokemon predecessors is cool, but what's really interesting about the first real Pokemon game on DS is that it uses Wi-Fi and touch-screen technology. Up to eight trainers can battle and voice chat with each other via local wireless by using friend codes. They can also visit a Global Trading Station in order to search for a new Pokemon online or put one up for adoption. Best of all, trades can occur while offline. The touch-screen functions aren't as groundbreaking, but make the adventure more convenient. Pokemon are picked by touch and menus are streamlined using a stylus during the battle sequences in place of the traditional, still useable button controls."http://www.gamingtarget.com/article.php?artid=6478
Who's trolling now? if you can read that says you need FC to battle. read the other reviews on this very website. they all state the same. also it depends when nintendo power said this magazines are usally 1 or 2 months off and if things change it can take 2 issues to correct. Nintendo did say it wouldn't need FC but it changed.
It is def. the best Pokemon to get back into the franchise with, I had lots of fun with it.
I will says AA, 8.7 sounds good.
Actually you both are right. It's true if you want Voice chat, and others with friends you need their FCs to battle them. But you can battle other people without FCs. There's a place you go to, I think it's akin to the Battle Tower, but anways you can go there and fight random teams. yoshi_64no just accept it will need FC to play online here
http://www.gamebrink.com/nintendo-ds/1485-Pokemon_Diamond-reviews-4.html page 4 sorry bro
Another Wi-Fi feature can be found in the Pokemon Centres which only works with Friend Codes. Once you have one or more FCs registered, you can visit the Wi-Fi Club that'll allow you to battle with any long distance friends that are online or trade with them. While you're doing this, you can voice chat with them too.
On the other hand, there is also the Colosseum and Union Room which is also located in the Pokemon Centres but these are wireless link features only. As the name suggests, the Union Room allows up to 5 players to hang about together in a room. Here you can battle, trade, chat using messages, draw pictures or share records of the TV interviews you've been in in-game. Yes, if you speak to a reporter during your adventure, you get interviewed and are allowed to select a certain phrase to appear on TV. You can then view the interview to see what the reporter said about you.
For those thinking that anyone who got either versions of the game early will have a level advantage, there are actually level caps you can set if you want. There are also different types of battles if you choose to have a team battle such as Single Battle where you can only have one Pokemon each and Double Battle where you can have two each.
Finally, there is the Battle Tower where you can compete against other players in ranks. This works by downloading data for a specific room off the WFC servers. Your Pokemon are then capped at level 50 and your goal is to beat as many NPCs in the downloaded data as you can to earn a high rank and a place for your name in the WFC "Leader Boards".
"That's about it for Wi-Fi so unfortunately, you can only battle people if you have their FCs." in teams you can battle NPC's but thats pointless really is.
