It's just really "LAN" 0r "Infrastructure" Wi-Fi is just the type of signal used to communicate the systems.[QUOTE="Shinobishyguy"]this might be a stupid question...but whats the difference between wifi LAN and wifi? yoshi_64
LAN stands for "Local Area Network" where in it does not connect to the internet to utilize some server to handle the data transers and allow people from afar to play. That's "Infrastructure" LAN basiaclly is just Link Cables without the link cables.. well for the DS, for systems they use ethernet cables."
"Infrastructure" is just online play, and means you don't have to restrict yourself to just anyone in your vicinity, but all over the internet. Nintendo tends to coin this "Wi-Fi" or their "Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection" and "LAN" play is just "Wireless" play from Ninty's terminology.
you mean like in mario kart ds whre it asks you to choose either local area or world wide?
