IMO, Tony Hawk 1-4 and Underground are the good Tony Hawks.Only good TH games have been Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2/3. Rest are all garbage rehases, which dont deserve to have Tony Hawks name on it.

Is he even allowed to say that? Activision wont be happy hes single-handedly ruined the hype for the game. Dude is famous for getting fired for his opinion so it will be no skin off his back. I don't think the game had any hype to begin, and it has gotten slammed by just about every critic that has reviewed it so far.His website still lives off the fact that it has former GS staff, and its getting more hits because of their 'first-looks.' ACTIVISION will probably stop giving them pre-release material.[QUOTE="GulliversTravel"]

Doesn't bode well for the game.

What happened to the Tony Hawk Thug was great Thug 2 was garbage but project 8 started to make me think the games were going to be good again. I mean I knew this game was going to be bad when I saw it at E3 but damn its terrible.
Thats sad... I wish they would make them like TH3 or 4 or the undergrounds again, back then this series was one of my most favorite games. But look at that crap now...
And why the board? If they actually asked some fans of the TH series i bet 99,9% could tell them that a board controller is NOT a good idea for a tony hawk game. TH games are about huge crazy combos through half the city...
Am I the only person who likes THPS4:? I think it is the best of the series.....gamefan67
I liked it a lot, back then TH games were so much fun...

There was no hype for the game, not in the circles that know what Giant Bomb is or care what Jeff thinks. And this is not exactly a flagship title for Activision in the first place.
The last great Tony hawk game was american wasteland.
God i spent endless hours on THUG. The series went downhill after Project 8. Seriously, Ride looks so bad....
kill off the series now well there are still some people who respect it. dont continue to make this garbage making everyone lose respect for it. if they kill it now, there could possible be a chance in 5 years or so of bringing the tony hawk series back and people getting hyped for it
[QUOTE="Hahadouken"]Poor Tony Hawk. This was a horrible idea. Skate > Tony Hawk. It hasn't been good since THUG, if you ask me, and even then the best days were behind them. BioShockOwnz
It hasn't been good since TH3, imo, although I did somewhat enjoy Project 8. Still, this is the lowest it has ever went. Trash.
No 4 was the last great THPS, get your facts straight. :P Anyways that was a really sad sight to see. Tony was the former juggernaut who helped build Craptivision into the giant it is today in this industry. Did anyone bother to read some of the comments??? WTF!!! How could anyone really want this, hell Giantbomb was ripping it a new one and people were still stoked??? My only worry now is since Skate doesn't have any real competition, do they stop trying and release garbage too!!!I hope they experiment more with the board and the motion things. The main complaints seem to be with the menu organization and some board intergration and the fact that there isn't an "open world". If they did return this to what Tony Hawk was it would just be another regular Tony Hawk game which has been done over and over and over and over (4 times) again.
That aside, if Activision wants to return to this, which I think they should, I think it would pay off. I kind of liked it and could see me and my little cousins playing since we liked Tony Hawk games and such. Maybe something to enjoywith the firendsor something. Some of it actually did look like fun epecially if competing againsst one another, which is what I would use it for.
Im intrigued and I really hope they revisit it, but I can see some of the fustration though. Good idea though.
You know what this is really meant for??? A snowboard game everything about that board screams snowboard from the way you grab it to how you carve or turn. Their is no way you can get true representation of what its like to skateboard with that thing. Hell from the looks of the vid the motion sensors couldn't tell the difference between a heelflip or a kickflip. Let alone more advanced flip tricks like hardflips, underflips, or even a 360 flip. If EA is listening make your own board and do an SSX game STAT!!!!!
If EA is listening make your own board and do an SSX game STAT!!!!!2beers_in_handGood God, no. I'd rather they never make another SSX game if that's what they're going to do with it.
Reboot the franchise, please. Take a year off and in 2011, give us the REAL Tony Hawk video game we want.

Because I could have swore alot of the footage looked almost like SSX. If SSX was a skateboard game and actually didn't blow chunks all over its former greatness.
was checking gamerankings for score and saw the the first 4 reviews as : 92,90,92, 60 .... I was like it seems to be pretty good game review wise next 2 reviews : 55, 57.5 ... looks as if earlier reviews were fixed navalJeff said earlier that Activision invited reviewers to a 3-hour event where they could play the game "for day-one reviews", so I imagine some of those could be a result of that.
Thats one thing I'm worried about. With no competition Skate doesn't even have to try, if they wanted to the could send out shovelware as well. That was lamer than lame. Oh well, I stopped caring about the Tony Hawk franchise after THPS4. That said, I'm not sure I like the way Skate is heading, either, what with the whole team dynamic thing.
