I do not own an HDTV but I do have family members who do. I will be playing on an SDTV unles one of my roomates decides to bring in an HDTV into the dorms. I was very statisfied with the PS2s online capibilities and because the PS3 is better than the PS2s online Im not interested in paying an extra $50 for online but if I do decide to get the 360 I will mpay the $50. Onlione play is very important. I absolutly love hockey games. With the news of EA having ties with Microsoft im worried that NHL 08 will suck. Also, im worried that the 360 version will be better than the PS3 version for the sole reason that the developers have had more time to work with the 360. You know, like what happened to Madden.

I love the PS3 controler for hockey. I am ranked a top 100 player for NHL 2k7 online. I think the PS3 controller is better for hockey games. I have played hockey on both systems. Also, I play lots of FPS. Which controler is better for FPS? PS3 or 360? I also heard that the PS3 will have mouse and keyboard support for UT3. Do you think other PS3 FPS's will offer Mice and keyboard.

Well I want the best later obviosly. Later as in within 6 months. because the $20 charger is madatory for a $130 more I can get 40Gb more HD space, wifi, better controler for hockey (strong IMO), free internet, less likely to die, and blue ray. Is that right?spartanhockey

I can't be sure about how long it will take for the ps3 real potential to be used to the point where it is greater then the xbox 360s but my honest estimate is in 1 to 1.5 years(i know,a really long wait).but the main reason i got a ps3 is the blu-ray player cause i was planning on getting a killer tv plus all the add-ons like card slots,large HDD space and wi-fi are great

Live might cost money, but it means that you pay for server upkeep and maintainance. If you are too cheap to pay $US 6 a month, that's sad. And also, the 360 control got a higher rating than the PS3 one, not JUST for FPSs, but overall. Which means every genre, I have played a PS3, and the controllers aren't very ergonomic.

Don't bother getting a ps3 if you don't have an HDTV. It would cost more because of a Blu-ray play that you wouldn't even use.TheDarkDisciple

If you love FPS's get a 360 especially since BioShock is releasing this week and Halo 3 on September 25th. Not to mention you also have other shooters coming out as well for the 360 that are multiplat. Also you have Gears of War which is a third person shooter but nonetheless its a great one. The 360 controller is great for FPS not to mention you have rumble too which adds to the immersion of an FPS game. The ps3 as of now doesn't have rumble in its controller and i'm still not a fan of the ps3's controller for FPS's. The thumbsticks are just to close to one another.sirk1264

Your Needs:

-online play

-Hockey

Other than the hockey thing... I suggest you stick with your PC (I'm assuming have a PC), IMHO Most if not all of the best FPS are on / coming to the computer (KB&M is god).

I say save the cash! You said Roomates (plural) if one of them has a 360 or ps3.. just buy the hockey games for that system, and if your roomates do not have either.. i'm sure there's plenty of other folks with them and happy to let others play...

And if you are set on getting a system... I still say wait.. and play the systems when you get to the dorms... there's gotta be folks with 360s and ps3s.... and then make your choice.
