I know its free to use, but thats not the point.. What is Sony doing with Home at this point? we havent heard any new updates about it in months and at Sony's big shareholder conference a couple weeks ago Home wasnt even mentioned whatsoever. The PS3 now is so successful that they can just announce they will scrap Home, take the money they have made and move on.. I mean seriously, who really uses this?

Who knows, maybe im wrong,. Maybe Home is just to much ahead of its time and will become huge in a year or two but for now I dont think people are ready for it and its proving to be completly pointless.. your thoughts?

I think its made sony like a million bucks, thats nothing.. Home is just stuck in limbo with Sony not mentioning it whatsoever and not enough people use it to justify keeping it around, its a lost cause

Sony makes a ton off it. Just because you don't see a reason to use it, doesn't mean Sony doesn't have a reason to have it.

Its being mentioned to those who use it, you know how, by frequently adding new areas with new things to do :)

Exactly, didnt sony announce either at the start of 09 or in april that they made a couple million off of home already? Thats making a million dollars off of virtual tshirts and bubble machines, pretty outrageous if you ask me. Plus there are alot of people that actually like it, i have a few people on my friends list that are consistantly on home. Also its a nice way for devs to get their games out there, i go on home every month or so just to check out the new spaces devs put on there, and some are actually really great.

How does Sony even profit from Home? Do those advertisement billboards and Avatar clothing sales really generate enough revenue to keep the service up and running, as well as justify the inital investment costs?

Apparently, yes.

I remember hearing there were three ways that Sony profits from Home (from an old Phil Harrsion inteview before Home was released). Billboard advertisements was one. Avatar clothing and furniture sales was another. Whats the third revenue stream? Can't seem to remember

It's a good casual attraction and some people enjoy it. You wouldn't want Sony to scrap making Singstar and Buzz games too ? Where will it end ? They'll have to remove everything to please all demographics. They taek out Home for you , pretty soon they'll stop making what you enjoy too.

Even today, go on home, and you will surely find a lot of people on it. What i don't understand is, why you would insist it be canceled when it's not taking anything away from you. According to you, there hasn't been any updates in months which means resources aren't being directed to it. It is free, you're not paying for it. Other people enjoy it. It is making money for Sony. After all these, i ask again, why should it be canceled? Because You don't like it? Should RPG's not be made because i don't particularly favor them?

Sony makes money off it, and overall its free. Why would you complain about something free you don't have to use? Its like complaining about free puppies at a shelter, do you have to take one home?

Plus many people still use it, the game rooms get plenty of support from devs and publishers, and the minigames provide some entertainment when bored. Home was also the first place to use a console Alternate Reality Game (Xi), which was quite popular.
