Ok so i came pretty danm close into buying a ps3...

but im honestly scared to buy one. All i hear on the web is ps3 loosing this game, and loosing that game. I dont wanna buy one and a year later sony "can" the ps3. all the devs say it was a horrible mistake(the ps3) Do you think they will be proven Dead wrong? i hope so. I asked this on system wars to get all the opinions(most being biased) So you think its a safe buy? and yes i have done my research. =P

The web does not fill your pockets with green(money) nor does people on the web. Don't let them tell you how to spend your money. Buy what you want

I doubt they'll give up on it, how else are they going to force Blu-Ray players into homes if not disguised as a games console.

As Sony seem to be playing a "Just You Wait" game for any quality software that makes the console in any way appealling then I can happily adopt a "Just You Wait" policy for them getting my cash, if the games not multiplatform its delayed, if it is multiplatform then the PS3 version turns up a few weeks after the PC and 360.

Even the much mooed premise of "Blu-Ray means games can be bigger and better" was disproved by Heavenly Short... I'll hold onto my cash till they make there mind up what the want to include in the PS3... 60Gb, 20Gb, 80Gb, 40Gb... Hardware Backwards compatability, Software backwards compatability, no backwards compatability... there's been 4 or 5 different hardware set up and its not even a year old yet.

Fanboys will say "yes" and "no".

If you just want to play games, get a 360. If you don't own a HDTV, it's wise to get that first before you get either of these consoles. The PS3 is a great system like the 360, but the PS3 is a media powerhouse, that you can store alot of different types of media on it and use it. It's great for hooking up an external hard drive and saving videos onthe hard drive to watch on the PS3. The PS3 will also upconvert every video you play through it to 1080p, if you have the TV that can display 1080p..

the ps3 is a great console and im loving it

folklore,heavenly sword,motorstorm,ninja gaiden,warhawk,resitance,rachet and clank,and uncharted for the win.

id certainly recommend one...its a nice system. but for the love of god dont pay 600 euro for one...really not worth it imho. i got a really nice deal where i basically got the 60GB model for 360 euro. im in europe and some shops are trying to shift 60GB stock to make way for the 40GB. there was a really nice offer at my local where i got a 60GB PS3 and 2 games for 500 euro. thats very reasonable imho and id certainly recommend an offer like that. so if theres nothing interesting on the offers front in the shops where u are then hold tight. something will pop up.

as for the PS3s future. i dont think itll be market leader but itll still get alot of attention from devs. it should maintain alot of 3rd party support since its part of the power trinity (PC, 360, PS3) and sony are bound to release some cracking games that wont pop up on other platforms (chances are whatever team ico come up with will be worth the purchase of a PS3 alone). nothings for definate but i think itll certainly hold its own. 2007 has been a crap year for it but hopefully the worst is behind it now.

for the record...i took my local up on the offer above and am absolutely chuffed. just be prepared to set aside a few hours to set it up. between OS updates, getting signed up for online play and all that jazz, it can take a little while.

Nice post. It's good to see a well thought out post every now and again in System Wars. I would add that while the PS3 isn't as horrible as some fanboys make it out to be, I'm personally going to wait until next year when MGS4 releases. Until then there are far too many good games on the other systems to play this winter and I fear the PS3 would just sit on my entertainment center gathering dust at this point. Also, I hope Sony will stop doing stupid stuff like releasing a non-BC system. You can't call out the competition for lacking a feature, then pull the same **** six months later. Oh, and I would like the PS3 I buy to come with a Dual Shock 3. Because rumble DOES matter to me.
