Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. It was very close between that, God of War 3, and The Last Guardian.

The Bioware games (The Old Republic and Mass Effect 2) looked awesome. The new Metroid game excites me as well. But I mean anyone who saw God of War 3...just wow. My pick for game of show. I'm buying a PS3 for this game (as well as UC2...)

Last Guardian.... epic.

Yeah this will amaze. Metroid could be great but looks very action heavy and that does not fit Metroid, there should be adventure as well.

The developers said they're trying to fit a lot of adventure into it. Keep in mind that action makes a much better trailer than adventure does.

All of Bioware's games. Bioware is really one of the best devs out there right now. Puts most other devs to shame.

The Last Guardian, hands down. Every other game pales in comparison.

I don't know which Metroid series you've played... but the one I've played has been extraordinarily action-heavy. Every single game from Metroid on the NES to Super Metroid on the SNES to Metroid Fusion on the GBA and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes on the GC have been "action-heavy," to an almost extreme extent. You cannot go into a single room and not find something to shoot or something that is going to try and attack you.

Metroid is an "action-adventure" game. With emphasis always put on nail-biting, adrenaline-pumping action. Action comes with the adventure. The whole point of Metroid is to explore extremely hostile worlds... which is why Samus is so well-equipped to deal tons of enemies. The only two Metroid games to fail to meet the standard of the established formula have been Corruption and Hunters. Corruption being far too focused on shooting and linearty... while Hunters, not being a Metroid game to begin with (only through name), is even more focused on shooting and linearity.

Metroid has been and hopefully never will be a point-n-click adventure game with an extremely slow and methodical pace.

I sort of agree with you. I think it's more the case that the game is based almost entirely around adventures and puzzle solving. Even some of the tougher enemies could almost be considered simple puzzles. (eg: enemies that can only be harmed by a certain weapon) And of course the boss fights are even puzzles in and of themselves. However, the point is, while the entire focus is on the adventure and the puzzles, in almost every room you'll find something that is going to start chewing on you if you don't shoot it first. I think the enemies are there to keep you aware and keep you alert more than anything else. It's not as if most fights in Metroid games are particularly challenging.

For consoles or PC , gotta give this to Naughty Dog with Uncharted 2 .... they earned it imho.

  • Awesome demo presentation
  • Awesome new trailer
  • Multiplayer on the show floor
  • Co-op multiplayer on the showfloor
  • More single player shown upstairs
  • Beta even went live

I'll give Splinter Cell Conviction runner up because the demo dropped jaws , and they are trying something a little different with the presentation and people are taking notice , including other developers.

tough one...

Personally its a tie between The Last Guardian & GOW3.. (though i also liked MAG & Uncharted 2)

Was also interested in the footage with a huge list of upcoming PSP titles...great to know PSP is getting the support it deserves..

On 360, i loved the Forza3 & Splinter Cell footage... ooppss was going to forget Alan Wake :)

Assassins Creed 2 deserves to be listed too...

Splinter Cell: Conviction.

After the lame trailer almost two years ago, that awesome demo, it's hard not to be impressed.

Runner up: New Super Mario bros. Wii.

Check out this Just Cause 2 walkthrough , I think you'll be pleasantly surprised or straight up stunned.

This game wasn't on my radar pre-E3 , but now it is.

I really liked the Alan Wake demo, but my vote goes to Uncharted2. Looks damn polished, and its my favourite franchise so far this gen.

God of War 3

There were a lot of amazing games. I'm suprized no one has said Heavy Rain. Other amazing games at E3 include Batman, Alan Wake, Splinter Cell, Uncharted 2, Last Guardian.

Bayonetta would have to be my game of show. Wasn't even really interested in the title before E3 but the gameplay footage gave me a sharp wake up call. After that I would have to mention Uncharted 2. Naughty Dog are really raising the bar with that one.
