Just finished Heavenly Sword...and that game was definitely GOTY quality.

Due to everyones original opinion - I have deleted my post to allow me to actually say GAMESPOT AND IGN HAVE MADE A MISTAKE RATING THIS GAME!

Here we go. I have put a review up.

Grading .5 and -.5 increments for minor issues. For major, 1 increments have been allocated, as well as a very unbiased review system.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The rating of this game accoring to gamespots OLD(and much more realistic) review guidelines would go like this.

Gameplay- Button Mashing can be done almost all of the game except for the last two bosses. (-1. ---happy?) However, very rewarding once you learn the combos of the game. Range, Short, Special, and Power stances all allow for elaborate combos (+.5) Fixed camera was annoying also (-.5)

9.

Graphics----*** Aside from some beginning FMV sound-gfx syncing issues(-.5), the CGI as well as the FMV was astounding to look at. Hundreds and even thousands of enemies on the screen at one point.

9.5

Sound- Music fit! Intense! Voice acting superb. Aside from the syncing issues at the beginning(-.5), intensity is the right word. (9.5)

9.5

Value- Here is where HS suffers the most. Everyones claim would be that the game is hilariously short, which I do see the point! In fact, one sitting is indeed the truth.(-4) However, combo and trick learning skills bring the game up. (+1)

7

---*below ---83.125

Tilt- My personal tilt, due to the elements of the game I loved..Production, Sick combos, and Graphics all made me jump! Kai's part in the story at one point is scary. ---those who play know! I loved the switch and variation allowed by the sixaxis as well the boss battles, which were indeed unique.Gameplay aids the story. (10) However, the game can be beaten in one sitting (-1)so, it trumps most and ends up being along the lines of Caviar or high class cooking, which allows excellence in moderation.

9

How to read overall.

4 Elements averaged. X95 percent

Tilt-5 percent (which should deviatesuch bias)

83.125 + 4.5 (ABS Round Up equal 84 + 5, or 83 + 4 ~~ 89 versus 87)

87.625--- This is the score...with as many biases taken out.

Now here would be a realistic average. I have taken out as many biases as possible.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is where I get technical. So go to sleep or avoid if you dont want to stimulate your brain. *taken from post further on*

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Determining games with as much objectivity rather than subjectivity assigns the reader the right to their own personal opinion. Thus, that is where cognitive dissonance more or less occurs. However, by eliminating as much biases as possible, looking from a sociological perspective (which yields that one cannot truly eliminate all biases), we do our best to rate games with compromisation while adding an uncompromising element to satisfy ones natural bias. Thus, you rate this game on a + or - of its indeed raw score or reviewer score.

Overall Score at GR shows how many uncompromised reviews were indeed made. IGN and GS the big names here who have based the game more of less on RV. So heres the level of CD that I am facing.

87.625 versus 80 at GS 80, 81 at GR (for overall level)

The level of CG would be equated I believe as a 7.625 x 10 = 76 percent versus 6.625x 10= 66 percent-----wtf wtf

There you go.

Anything notably over 60 percent overall in CD IS WORTH YOUR POST!

The game is 81% on GameRankings.

If GameSpot is part of a conspiracy to kill the PS3, it's a big conspiracy.

I thought it was just a button masher from what I've played. Score was too high. I'm a bit peeved they gave Uncharted exactly the same score when it's a significantly better game...

But they're opinions.

Just finished Heavenly Sword...and that game was definitely GOTY quality.

Graphics are ridiculous.

Gameplay is easily matched to GOW or Gaiden.

AND NOW....

THE LENGTH WAS SHORT, HOWEVER THE PRODUCTION AND STORY WAS IN NOOOOOO WAY LONG OR DRAWN OUT. That is how a story should in fact be done. The climax came in time, and well as the resolution, which btw was astounding.

Gamespot needs to get their heads checked as well as gamers who love longggggg and drawn out stories. ---sigh

SeptimusV_basic

lets not overrate this game now.

Yeah, Heavenly Sword was definately GOTY material. That and Lair, too....

Sony doesn't need help killing the PS3 from gamespot. It is doing that just fine on its own.

farrell2k

Yeah, ignore the good games and focus on the bad ones. That's the best way to decide whether a system is good or not.

Excellent game, but I must agree that it was too short. What makes a great game is a game that has longevity and high replayability, not just how pretty it looks or sounds (these are merely wonderful additions to a core that makes the game fun). Gameplay is important as well (which Heavenly Sword did have), but why buy the game if you can beat it in one sitting?

I enjoyed the game, very much so because of the story that was told.

But there were a few gameplay flaws in my opinion and it had very short length. I, myself, felt the score Gamespot gave it was right on the money.

Also, I will point out that I own a PS3 and only a PS3. No X360 or Wii. My other gaming device would be my PC :)

Half of the articles were basing this game on its length. LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

In fact, I was reluctant to get this game, but my best friend bought me 5 games as a present including this and AC.

However...AC was longer than HS. Yet...IT WAS HILARIOUSLY TEDIOUS! Run, Listen or Pickpocket and then kill a boss. No CGI or high quality production value and little variation to attacks (however they were marvelous to look at)

HS is like Caviar and AC was like something off the dollar menu. Sigh

IMO heavenly sword is a great rent nothing more .. paying $60 usd for a game that last 5 hr is ridiculous .. not to mention it has like no replay value unless you like beating the game over and over ..

Value shouldnt trump quality if quality is so high---Definitely the quality is insane.

However, regardless this game should have gotten easily above an 8.0.

Assassins Creed compared to this game is a joke. I beat both in two nights respectively, however HS could have been beaten in one.

HS however, was like fine wine to play.

I have yet to get through Assassin's Creed so no comment there.

Staying on HS, its good and fun, but I felt not all the gameplay elements were there that should have been. Nariko's friend or sister, the one that plays "twing twang," her missions weren't all that fun. Her role in the story is very good, but her portions in the game weren't.

Also, Nariko's gameplay was a little too different. I'm not saying its a bad game at all and neither is Gamespot. There were just reasons for it getting an 8.0, and one of those was length which many people find to be a problem.

Its a button mashing, repetitive short game.

I think they gave the videogame as a whole an 8.0 because the story was so good, cause as a game it wasnt exactly amazing.

but it is and i repeat a BUTTON MASHER, ITS REPETITIVE, ITS A SHORT VIDEO GAME thats 60 bucks.

60 bucks for 6 hour game versus other games that go almost 20 and more with most other games. It did not deserve GOTY there were like 20 games way better than it, in fact i dont even think its a top 5 PS3 game honestly.

ANd no its not worthy of AAA, games like Metroid Prime 3, Mass Effect, Uncharted(just as short thought), Zack and Wikki, Devil May Cry 3, Metal Gear Solid 3, Twilight Princess were all better, longer(outside of uncharted), less repetitive, and overall more complete videogames than heavenly sword, all of them didnt get AAA why the F should heavenly sword.

less repetitive, actually difficult at the end on insane, more intense, coop, multiplayer, superb online, great gameplay for its genre where there are so many action games that are better in gameplay than heavenly sword from Devil May Cry to Ninja Gaidne to the game it rips off of God of War.

Gears of War could easily get you more than its single player campaign.

I have put up a review....personal, yet with a serious look at the game from as much as an objective view as possible.

LOOK AND SEE!

IGN AND GAMESPOT HAVE TAKEN OUT OBJECTIVITY FROM THEIR REVIEWS.

Gamespot = subjective all the way.

IGN accomodates for an Objective, yet adds a very uncompromising gamingoverall that is an opinionated number.

Howard Stringer killed the PS3, the solution then, would be for the reverse to come true...

Sigh

you still haven't explained why you're blaming gamespot over this. they're only .1 lower than the average.

Actually Casey, you are right...so as everyone in here. Concerned with AVG rating.

Value shouldnt trump quality if quality is so high---Definitely the quality is insane.

However, regardless this game should have gotten easily above an 8.0.

Im sorry...its ridiculous how people have rated this game, including IGN.

Assassins Creed compared to this game is a joke. I beat both in two nights respectively, however HS could have been beaten in one.

HS however, was like fine wine to play.

that's why it scored so high.

In what world...when judging by .1 increments does this equate to an 8?

How can you take GR seriously when almost half of the sites are as subjective as possible Casey?

I am speaking from intellectual to the next.

Oh well...people are uncompromising in nature, so my personal raw score is listed, as well as the GS reviewer and the IGN reviewer and the rest of GR.

IF such is true, everyone should enjoy the wii. --trumps all known logic as to rating games.

there's no objective way to assign a value to fun. some people will like a certain game more than others will. it doesn't mean they're wrong and it doesn't mean they're trying to kill the ps3 if they score the game lower than you think it should have.

The main game I feel Gamespot jipped the PS3 on was Uncharted, that game deserved a 9, I dont care what anyone says, it was an amazing experience for me, to put it around the same level as HS was disgusting.
