This, yes a nintendo fanboy will diss pokemon as the number one most overrated game. Can't say I disagree with some of those games though.

What is up with people on this board loving pokemon? How old are you guys? I am 30 going on 31 in December...Pokemon to me was always a dumb crappy 90's cartoon that went with all the other crappy 90s cartoons. (80's cartoons==a millions times better!!!) ... A game can't really be a rpg if it has no story , no depth, it was a monster rancher type game not a real rpg. There was no dungeon crawling, or party based interactions. No wicked nemesis prime evil conquering the world with heroes going on a global quest of epic proportions trying to right the wrong created by the evil boss. It had non of that. No job cla_$$_es like fighter, theif , ranger, mage, white mage, black mage, time mage, geomancer, etc. etc.. it had no large world map.. it was just some kid roaming around in a game with sub-par visuals collecting cutsie stuffed animal type familars to fight battle arenas for him (as far as I seen of the game).[QUOTE="siLVURcross"]He can't get away with dissing Pokemon. Really can someone please let me know why system wars people like this game more than final fantasy or Dragon quest, or any of the great PC rpgs? As I try to get it but i just can't concive of how you can like this game so much. MY only reasoning is that most of system wars was under 14 when pokemon came out and so they were little kids and that was the thing being advertised and hyped by commercials at the time... that is the only reasonable explanation i can come up with. Someone please fill me in!
Pokemon has a lot of great things too. Like any RPG, the combat does require a lot of strategy, working with up to 6 party members (the party members being the Pokemon) and using each ones strengths against the enemy. There is also a TON to do, hundreds of Pokemon to collect, quests to go on, places to explore, people to battle, you always have reason to go back. Also, there are clases (mispelled delibertely) in a way, each Pokemon has their own special strength in a certain category, be it fire, rock, ice, water, grass, and so forth. Admittedly, there is no story, but c'mon, if we judged all RPGs by story, Star Ocean: The Last Hope couldn't possibly be an RPG. :PWhat is up with people on this board loving pokemon? I'm 18, and I play it competitively. Very different from what you're thinking of. It's not just a "child's game", the game involves various strategies, right movesets, properly trained Pokemon and many other things. And I love FF more than I do love Pokemon.Pokemon=god. Dont mess with it.[QUOTE="bronxxbombers"]

Yandere
Even though SilverCross might think so I have to strongly disagree.
I don't think Pokemon is God, it's a good series even though the formula might seem tiring to many. It has a complex yet simple battle system that works with a variety of skilled players. What is up with people on this board loving pokemon? How old are you guys? Thanks, didn't know pokemon was a competitive game... like I said i really don't know much about it besides the aesthetics, but if its some form of strategy game i can at least respect that. Oh and good thing you like ff... I have seen people that dis ff games in favor of pokemon on this site. Dragon Quest/Warrior 1 and FF 1 on NES were my first console rpgs I played all ff games and all dq up to dq 4 on NES a long time ago (and the DS remake of DQ4) I really love good jrpgs and I just couldn't understand the love pokemon got over the great story driven jrpgs i loved so much and still do 2 decades later!!Whoever the person was that wrote the article is just trying to be en elitist with his 'old games are still better' statement.
I've owned Half Life for about six years now and I can honestly say I've maybe played it for a total of two hours.
See the problem with that? And he thinks he actually knows about video games, wow he's just awful.
Definately, we all agree that list really sucks. The nonsense halo bash was the funniest and I don't even play halo. Talk about stuck in the past, old guy.
The thing with retro games back then, they acctually wern't that good, get to up to the same insultingly hard part, loose all your lives, start from the begining, repeat.. And bashing Resident Evil, wowz. Epic failure.

Well, not ALL retro games. I'm 13, yet I very much enjoy some classic games like the Super Mario Bros games, the Final Fantasy series, and I practically praise Ocarina of Time like the God it is.The guy that wrote this is such a nostalgia case. He mostly just says things like "if you haven't played Xgame back when, then you shouldn't be allowed to say Ygame is good now." Coppled together with some dumb generalizations and the fact that I like most of those games, this certainly wasn't reader worthy IMO.
As much as i don't, i could defeintly see people agree with this list. I don' think system wars will ever all agree on something.
I'm pretty sure most on here can agree on the fact that they like to play video games. Only if it's on THEIR system for most people. What is up with people on this board loving pokemon? Pokemon has a lot of those....
OMG how can you call God of war overrated???And pokemon as well and Grand theft auto the whole list is just like was this person really high or really drunk when they did this?
how would this list make one a nintendo fanboy when only teken halo god of war and half life are the only ones not on a nintendo systemThis list SUCKS!
http://old-wizard.com/top-10-most-overrated-video-game-franchises
Whoever made this list was either 1. a total Nintendo fanboy 2. a troll out to piss everybody off 3. just plain stupid or 4. all of the above. Honestly, read his points. They're ridiculous.
The_AI
Ive said it before and ill say it again
It is not POSSIBLE to make a better rpg for the original gameboy, than pokemon. I doubt even god himself could... and im serious lol Pokemon is so good, that i pretty much buy the same game every other year or so and when it comes out i dont even do anything else for like 2 months. Especially the Gold/silver remakes.... omg, Thats my most wanted game, because silver and gold was the best... its only problem was that it was for the gameboy color lol When that hits the DS, dont expect me to be on these forums for a while
And did they really say, you MIGHT be able to call sonic 2 a great game???? and then went on to say that the series got stale with 3 because it didnt add anything new???? Are they out of their MINDS? Sonic 3 was godly, and so where the first 2
its OK exwpt he dissed pokemon. you can't say its for 8-year-olds, i mean, would a little kid be able to play the game properly?no. i'm glad tekken and guitar hero is on that list.:)
I agree with everything on this list except Half-Life.captain_diegoIf you agreed with everything on this "list" you would had went all the way and left HL on it because you can't praise HL while at the same time put down the 9 other gaming "sacred cows".
"Does Halo really compare to old SNES classics like Super Metroid or Mega Man 2?"skrat_01At that point you stop taking the piece seriously and realize that it's just parody. Really bad parody.
Heh look at his top ten best videogame franchises list. Rather Nintendo orientated really.
Overall the whole site is a whole bunch of nostalgia filled bull****, usually saying that videogames should never had jumped into 3D, that linear level crawls/dungeon crawls are better. To be honest as the name of the website suggests, its basically what I expect from a senile old man blabbing out stupid crap that Half Life is over-rated despite the fact that it won 50 GOTY awards and revolutionized (in reviewer's eyes) the first person shooter genre and that 96% is a "average rating". Also said that Super Mario 64 is one of the most overrated games of all time. Also old man Jenkins said despite the fact the CD-i, 3DO and other horrible consoles exists and made a bashing of SEGA consoles.
To be honest, old man Jenkins should stop typing bull**** on the internet and just try to remember where he places his false teeth.
