OK we now know R&C won't top SMG.

Face it. Wii games might get the bad end of reviews from poorly written ones like the MP3 but 8.5 and 8.8 for twilight princess, 8.9 for super paper mario and 8.5 for zacl & wiki ain't bad.

now that ratchet and clank on PS3 has gotten a 7.5 here on GSpot it will take some sort of moneumental failure for galaxy to score lower or even with it.

I mean the whole idea of galaxy is introducing new physics,better graphics, more varied and new puzzles, and multiplayer, new 3D elements (like boo, bee, fire suits) to the traditional mario mix.

add a new princess, and the invading alien ships that have some mysterious link to bowser and you've got one updated piece of software.

Ninty is taking a risk with Galaxy like they did with Wind Waker, Metroid Prime (being a FPS and all) and the DS and the Wii themselves.

Super Mario Galaxy will score higher than R&C.

I am saying right now, if GameSpot writes as poor a review for Super Mario Galaxy and scores it under 7.5 (under!) I will leave system wars forever. I will stick to that.

Now I know you'll say "hey the cows didn't see the R&C review coming it was AAA but they said A. That could happen to Galaxy too"

GSpot gave sunshine a 8.0 amidst loads of 9's and 9.5's in 2002.

Look, there were three main gripes with the game in the review, this is how it would look for SMG:

Story: Story...?

Difficulty: Ehhh...

Too many game mechanics: Not sure about that one, you tell me.

That said, I think SMG would outscore R&C anyway, with the reviewer being different.

Well ENTIRE story details aren't known but:
With 64 he went into the castle collecting stars to save Peach.
In Sunshine, He used a water gun to destroy graffiti and light up a city to save Peach.

o_o There must be SOME REASON he's in space.
It'd have to be a pretty good reason too.
It's obvious it'll have something to do with Peach's kidnapping but I jfdsaklj dunno how to explain into words really.
Just feels more... 'twisty' than other mario games.

SMG has an iron grip on 2007 though. Nothing can touch it.

Just because GS didn't give R&C a AAA score doesn't mean it's not a AAA title. According to the press it is.

If not, I guess you're agreeing with GS that MP3 and TP aren't AAA titles (which they are according to the press).

So basically, he SAVES PEACH, that automatically means there's no story beyond the first Mario's

There really is no way in hell to know.

All we can speak on now is preference. Someone prefers Banjo, therefore they'll bank on it doing better... and noone can argue against it, since we no nothing about the game.

Mario galaxy could get a 10, and there would still be a chance any platformer to be released in this gen could top it.. we can't know until it's all over.

With that said, I have always loved mario so i hope his latest adventure will be so grand that it would appear as though nothing could ever touch him.. but of course, for teh sake of great games i would like to think that there will be games that at least match up.

I honestly think SMG will be regarded as the best platformer ever made.

The only competition for SMG is Banjo 3, but its a year late so sorry Banjo :P

I still don't think SMG will be as good as RnC. GS just did a shoddy review imo. I love the game, and its AAA on Gamerankings. I'm starting to get over GS reviews since they're becoming so.... strangeraynimrod

Its looking like GS's review is looking less and less "crazy"

Perhaps its the benefit of hindsight,

But I still play Super Mario Bros 1 and 3, I play Super Mario World every so often, and even now and then I still toss in Mario 64.

When was the last time you played Mario Sunshine?

Perhaps its just me, but looking back it was the weakest true mario and the 8.0 was not unjustifed.

If Banjo 3 lives up to N64 Banjo's then Mario Galaxy can say goodbye. Because BK>mario 64 and while SMG will be amazing it's not on the godly level that SM64 was. BK was on a godly level too. But chances are slim. SMG will be the best platformer.........until the next DK platformer on wii. Yes you heard me, a DK64-esque platformer. It will happen.Kratos_OMEGA

Hopefully if there is a new Donkey Kong it won't be a collect-a-thon like Donkey 64. Banjo Kazooie did it just right, Donkey Kong 64 just went overboard.

yeah, Mario games are always high ranked

but they all play the same

same characters, same story lines, same moves ...

1. SMG has more variety than R&C, apparently variety is bad

2. SMG has a poor story, apparently story is a gamebreaker for this genre

3. It'll be too easy like R&C, but at least R&C let's you unlock hard mode(mario games have never had diffuculty levels)

4. Gamespot has flopped two of the biggest wii games so far(LoZ:TTP and MP3).

Of course, every other website will rate SMG 9.0+...

I read somewhere that they had to stop Miyamoto from making the game too hard.
