http://kotaku.com/5031280/okami-on-wii-didnt-do-so-well

"When Capcom's Christian "Sven" Svensson said you all needed to go out and buy more copies of Okami, damnit, he wasn't kidding around. Tucked away in Capcom's financial results yesterday were some sales figures for the company's biggest games, showing that the Wii port of the PS2 cla$$ic - a version that was supposed to deliver the kind of sales the title deserved - has sold only 280,000 copies in North America and Europe since release. Being a port I'm sure they still turned a profit, but with Res 4 managing to sell over a million on the Wii, you can't blame Capcom if they decide to toss Okami in the "too hard" basket."

Thats too bad. Then again, the port wasn't as good as I thought it would be ;).

Without the Z button, controls fail for the brush.

Also, waggle ftl.

I wouldn't expect Dead Rising on the Wii to do so hot either.

Actually the "waggle" made it better. And it only sold 150k copies on the Ps2... taking about expanded audiences...

I think it'll do better than Okami. Though, I don't think it'll be set at a budget price like Okami was, so we'll see.

Nope. It sold poorly on the PS2 and it was destined to do poorly on the Wii. It's unfortunate.

They ported a PS2 game that didn't sell well in the first place to a console with a substantially smaller userbase and then failed to advertise it properly, if at all. What the hell kind of sales were they expecting?

Thats too bad. Well.... If nothing else I guess we wont have to ever hear people complain about a sequel that wasnt a good as it's predecessor... Because no matter how good a sequel is, sombody's got to complain about it now a days.

No it didn't. The controls were less accurate with waggle.

If you dont use the Z button, it will be hard to use the brush for slicing enemies.
If your not a fan of waggle, you'll hate this/dislike it.

I have it... didn't finish it yet.

But honestly Capcom can go %&%$ themselves. They removed the original credits from the Wii port, so all the hard workers over at Clover were pretty much spat on.

It was really good, but I can understand how it ended up as one of those cult games.

make some Okami commercials. Not just one for japan, but for everywhere. Then talk to me about low okami sales.

Agreed. Bully's Wii controls were awkward, but Okami's were downright painful at times. Glad I only rented both.

Still, that's too bad. The inherent commercial suicide in porting/developing niche titles on the Wii is becoming ever more apparent.

i agree with you on that, then again thats mostly all of wii games. most of the wii games hardly get commercials and some developers actually wonder why there games dont sell. Theres wii games that actually sell good with out commercials, because of the internet and the gaming community on the boards.

Developers seem to believe that since the Wii is selling well/out at almost every place, that their games will sell out as well.

well it could also be because that wii owners are a little more desperate for a good wii game than ps2 owners were might also have something to do with it, there wasnt nearly as much competition as there was on the ps2

Yes Brawl is not a fighting game because all the fighting you do has nothing to do with fighting. And of course its casual cause it has Mario in it

I'm not just talking about main stream gamers, I'm talking about people that do alot of gaming. It was advertised in gaming mags and had lots of very positive previews comparing it to Zelda (which as you know sells very well)

Why isnt it hardcore? Because its different? Because 4 players? Because optional items? Because it's a Wii exclusive Yeah lets go with that last one
