It's supposed to be like that though...Donkey Kong is supposed to go to the more experienced player.

I haven't played co-op yet. I'm a wii owner that only owns one Wii mote and nunchuk lol.I'm a Wii owner that owns 2 wii motes, and only 1 nunchuk :P I remember telling myself I would buy one over 3 years ago haha.
On another note, is that Dexter I see? I literally started watching that show today. Got through the first 9 episodes on netflix. I love it so far!
First and most important of all, I also just started watching Dexter. Three episodes in and I'm loving it!
As far as talking about 3rd parties doing well with established series, well, I haven't played Donkey Kong Country Returns yet, but Metroid Prime 1 and 2 are both two of the best examples of a studio paying true homage to a series while striking out on their own. Metroid Prime 3, not so much. Crappy game.
Regardless, what Retro did with Prime was take Metroid within their own vision. It was refreshing. Same with Galaxy 1 and 2. They were so different from Sunshine and 64 that it just felt like this team had a vision of their own and used Mario as a way of showing it off. But none of these games were similar, at least in a direct sense, to the games that they were previously based on.
Of course, original developers do falter at times. Take a look at Monolith, making F.E.A.R. one of the greatest shooters of all time and then following up with a mediocre sequel. However, looking at Hideki Kamiya's track record of game releases I know he's the one that should be working on a sequel to Okami. Chances are he's working on a sequel to Bayonetta instead, but hey, Bayonetta is just as good as Okami in my books.
