lol Is that something to hide behind? Is it Blu-Ray VS DVD? It was a competition between two new HD formats that will EVENTUALLY replace DVD. Blu-Ray is the winner.[QUOTE="killaj2786"][QUOTE="Liquid-GEAR"]Big suprise..NOT

TDK is SUPPORTING Blu-Ray. It's clearly biased. I want Blu-Ray to win, I see the most potential with it. However, neither have won yet, neither. Now lets see, why are the PS3 sales still lower than the others if we have a winner?Legendaryscmt
If half the 360's didnt fail on its fanboys they whould have the same amount of sales as the ps3 in twice the time.

Its very clear BR is victorious..Thats no surprise. Its been pretty clear that Blu-ray would win since the summer. It doesn't automatically mean it'll help the PS3 though. When I worked at Bestbuy customers flat out refused to use the PS3 as a Blu-Ray player.Hippostrike
What was their reason/logic behind not using the PS3 as a BluRay player?

Why? Did the conversations go like "Hi, can you give me a Blu-Ray player?"-"Get a PS3, it's cheaper"-"Nahhhh not interested in a game machine"? I mean, if you don't want to buy a game machine, it would be hard selling you a PlayStation. :O

However, it just came off as if you were saying that because TDK said it, it means they're winning. But with more support and sales, then that's certainly something.

Slothboyadvance probably told the customer that the ps3 has the red rings of death.
http://kotaku.com/gaming/hd-format-wars/hd-dvd-beating-out-blu+ray-309771.phpVery smart of VP of Toshiba(which is backing HDDVD) to count ONLY stand alone players huh?
SkyRaid
Which means he excluded PS3 totally and PC drives.. Spin doctor ftl
Blu Ray winning = Ps3 winning.greenleaf2000That's not true. So far blu-ray is winning the HD war and PS3 is losing the console war.
These figures don't include PS3's which would probably give blu-ray the lead still.HD-DVD players are now out selling Blu-Ray players. This war is far from over.

Are PS3 owners as likely to buy Blu-ray moview as someone who bought a stand alone HD player? PS3 owners have to split resources between the two, while you have a dedicated HD-DVD buyer in someone who bought a stand-alone box.

Movie studios want standalone players to determine the format war not a gaming console, when the Ps3 finally gets games worth playing will gamers still buy 30 dollar videos?

No they don't. Stop making up lies.
And most Blu-Ray movies are at the $25 mark.
Get a clue.
[QUOTE="Legendaryscmt"]Now lets see, why are the PS3 sales still lower than the others if we have a winner?Liquid-GEARMight aswell edit your post to say "reading comprehension bewilders me" lolPerhaps the original poster and those that follow him like blind mice without even looking at the article could say the same thing. Here let me take a few excerpts out of the article. This first one is actually the first line:
"TDK is the only recordable media company to be a founding member of the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA)."
So a founding member of the BDA is calling a complete end to the format war and announcing that Blu-ray has won? I'm surprised no one else has seen a problem with that. And I highly doubt the majority of people in here read the entire article but let me point your attention to the bottom where it says...
"TDK strongly believes that there will be one global winner: Blu-ray Disc!"
Now the last time I saw the word 'believes' in a statement I took it to mean that it wasn't written in stone and that it merely followed one individuals belief system. Many people believe in God, does that mean He is an undeniable fact? No, actually far from it. People have to start realizing that titles of news articles are to draw people in, and this title does just that. The title of an article doesn't always explain inconclusively what is in the body.
Why would anyone want Blu-Ray to not be the winner? It's superior to HD-DVD in every way as far as I've heard.Gunraidan
thats actually something i dont understand. why would some studios choose to back an inferior format? whats in it for them?

Money perhaps? If HD-DVD movies are catching up to blu-ray movies sales wise then there is a good chance that many blu-ray exclusive backers will begin backing both and let the end users sort otu who wins and who loses. That's liek saying "The PS3 is more powerful so why are quite a lot of companies jumping ship?" It's the end users whoare the decider of these types of wars. If Toshiba had as much money as MS and ptu as much into the HD-DVD ad compaign as MS did with Gears I'm fairly certain that HD-DVD would be on top even though it is the lesser format.Screen Digest says not so....

Just like Betamax.
sony created the compact disk which replaced casattes tapes, then sony created the dvd which replaced the VHS, now sony created Blu ray which will replace dvds and hd dvds

Actually Studios care more about what format sells the most movies. And to a lesser extend piracy. And Bluray is the winner on both.[QUOTE="mentzer"][QUOTE="-DarthVader-"][QUOTE="vauba_haoly"][QUOTE="DarthKalo"]These figures don't include PS3's which would probably give blu-ray the lead still.HD-DVD players are now out selling Blu-Ray players.
