Well, no more fighting, no more polls It time to tell everyone why you want your selective game of Goty and no"because I like it."

Give us pros, cons and clear exlainations. That mean type it out........

So what game do you want for GOTY and Why?

Vanquish, because of its fantastic visuals, controls and gameplay mechanics. It took a tired and overflowing genre and has given it some of its life back. It uses the modern sensabilities of cover-based shooting but doesn't revolve the game around it. It feels like an action game that you can also play from behind cover. It gives you speed and huge areas with fantastic boss fights. When has a shooter ever had an amazing boss fight?

The game's taken everything that have made modern shooters and action games great and expertly fused them into a fantastic, frentic and fun shooter unlike any other :D

Mass Effect 2 because it expands with no flaws the already brilliant Mass Effect universe or Red Dead Redemption because it´s the most believable world i have ever seen in a videogame.

Bayonetta. The combat is nothing short of excellent to the point where the only thing Ninja Gaiden has over it is that it's more visceral(and the alternate weapons were more badass). The fluidity, the smoothness of it all just made Ryu's movements feel like an old man, and the overall battle system is flexible enough for a lot of free form combat to go along with the dial up combo design. The minute you master the wicked weave, the godlier your combo strings become.

The final Jeanne Boss fight was one of the(if not THE BEST) boss fight this year, and the stuff with Jubileus, the secret boss, and 2 others I'm forgetting were great in their own way. The level design always through enough new scenarios at you to keep it from getting old and stale. It honestly felt like the true successor to the DMC series although admittedly lacking the challenge of DMC3.

The soundtrack gets too much flak. Fly me to the moon fit the main character, and I don't get "zomg my ears hurt" open your horizons a bit. The rest of the soundtrack certainly had some great stuff. Through in plenty of design choices that makes it highly replayable, and I don't see that many games on a pure gameplay level that were even up to snuff. SMG 2, Starcraft 2 and Super Meat Boy are the only 3 games that make a major statement in their genre the way Bayonetta does.

As for the bu bu the story sucks. The fact that some of you will argue against it with God of War's storyline is a ****ing joke. Videogame storylines are terrible on a general basis, but God of War is extra special in the trash department. Since I know I struck some nerves with this post, and I'm just dieing to hear the Bayo hate. Come at me Bro :)

Final Fantasy XIII because you know, it was actually a good game, though it didn't live up to a lot of expectations. But hey, people can't live with or without change, always gotta be complaining about something. It has an amazing soundtrack, a nice twist on the usual ATB system, great graphics, and sure it's linear, but hey, so are a lot of other games. The characters weren't it's strong points nor its story, the early chapters didn't execute either properly.

Personal GOTY: Bayonetta

The game is nothing but a fun fest. It has such a fast peace, it's quite challenging with tons of collectibles and replay value, the gameplay is amazing, hell, almost perfect, the music fits perfectly, some people strongly dislike the main battle theme, personally i think is ok and that version of Fly me to the Moon is just amazing not to mention the great bosses themes which are plain Epic, speaking of bosses, this game has some of the best bosses ever, they all are epic and fun, i still think that the big bosses can easily be a final boss in any other game, yet, the best battles are not against huge bosses, but against a woman and a priest, now that's epic.

Overall, the game is amazing at what it does, it literally took the tired hack and slash genre and rise the bar a lot for future games like this, people said that once GOW3 were released nobody would even remember this game, however, that wasn't the case.

The only bad thing i found is the camera, but, let's be honest, with so much frenetic action all over the place, the camera should be even worst, instead, the camera does a fine job, IMO, this is not only my GOTY, but one of the best games this gen, next to Portal, SMG and MGS4.

AC2 because it had large, immersive cities to explore, was pretty to look at (for a console port anyway, in my case), had an interesting story, because I like convoluted scifi and because despite being very frustrating at times, it was fun to play.

I felt like jumping to this, but isn't that game last year? :P You should try Brotherhood. It's sadly a retread of the stuff in AC2 in a lot of ways, but there are some new additions(besides the iffy, but fun MP) that made the game a little more fun. It lacked the umph of AC2 for me though. That said the subject 16 stuff and the ending? Oh em GEE!!!

Sadly, my entertainment funds have been somewhat dead since it's release.

A Steam version would probably make me lose any sense of priority :P AC2 had a somewhat slow start but once you get into things, you stop noticing time. The game ends with you feeling it's 10 hours too short but that means it's great.

Edit: And yeah, my brain farted quite loudly there. I played it like a month ago.

ACB's start is even slower to the point where even the first 2 tombs(according to Espada) are just dull. Then it does what AC2 does is get in a groove, and you just run around, building money, killing dudes, hopping from roof top to roof top, hiding around surrounded by whores....soooo good.

Yeah and you get to find all those glyphs that unlock tiny video fractions that make you go ! when you get them all. And you get to end up as a super stealthy assassin who looks so cool than he's easily seen from a mile away ;)

The game manages to scratch one's rpg urges just a bit without being an rpg at all.

AC2 for pc may not have come out till this year, but they aren't going to give GotY to a port of a 2009 game. That'd be like ME2 getting GotY in 2011 because of the ps3 version.

So far, every year this gen has gone to a AAAE (or AAAAE). Most likely candidates are SMG2, SC2, GoW3, and Halo Reach. SMG2 was AAAAE, so that's extra points in its favor. GS hasn't really shown much love for pc this gen, so that's some points against SC2.

Personally, I'm going to say.... Scott Pilgrim vs the World: the Game should get it. Because it's awesome.

Explain. It's mine too, but I want explainations from people about theirs.

PS: Why no Shadow broker version Liara? You need to update PSN8214.

Any one else tried of these poll? I know I am. Everytime the end of the yearcame we fight of who will win GOTY.(If it was a good year.)

Well, no more fighting, no more polls It time to tell everyone why you want your selective game of Goty and no"because I like it."

Give us pros, cons and clear exlainations. That mean type it out........

So what game do you want for GOTY and Why?

dreman999
Fable 3 is GOTY. The game is simply epic, like Zelda OOT was back then and nothing really compares Alan Wake and Mass Effect 2 would also be candidates

So far for each console that I own.

PSP: Peace Walker. Hands Down. Amazing visuals for the PSP, an actually followable story, depth out the wazoo, and tons of customization. Loved it.

PS3: Exclusive? I'd say Heavy Rain or God of War but I honestly wasnt super impressed with either. Its a toss up for me but I would give the nod to Heavy Rain simply because of its originality. It was a couple immersion breaking voice actors away from a truly revolutionary game.

DS: Picross 3D was the last game I played thoroughly on my DS, it sounds like a weak choice but its a darn good puzzler. Original and addictive.

PC: Mass Effect 2 (Reasoning Below)

Game of The Year?

I would nominate Red Dead or Mass Effect 2. Mass Effect 2 was simply an excellent video game. It rolled story, action, visuals, and character development into one tasty morsel. Red Dead Redemption was revolutionary mainly because of its story telling, I think it was the first time a video game affected me emotionally.

I'm not willing to make a choice between those two.

Ok. Fable 3 - Best art in a 3D game - Most epic world feeling, the lighting, foliage, detail, forests, everything - Rule a kingdom, a first in a RPG - Huge world, NPC simulation, huge detailed cities a first in a RPG - Spell combination in real time, a almost first in a RPG - Epic story with huge variety in environments - Evolving world, by your choices, areas change completly, and some evolve with people inhabiting, new jobs, homes created etc - Endeless secrets to find - Unique quests and game feeling - Dress as Zeldas Link !!! - Buy homes, shops, have treasury, economy system etc And the list goes on

Red Dead Redemption, it's a western game with a great story and ending. Multiplayer is great also...

I would pick SMG2 for GOTY for these reasons

1.The final stage was so hard that it made my heart beat like crazywhich rarely ever happens to me

2. Some of the stages like Beat Block were really creative with their stage elements

3. It added a lot more things than a normal sequel would and toyed around with gravity a lot more than SMG. One example of this is the Melty Molten Green Star. This star involved using a bunch of pull stars andyou had to launch of these pull stars at max force by pointing your wii remote at the pull stasrs at thhe correct time.

Starcraft 2, It truly is such an engaging multiplayer experience. Amazing balance, nice addition of new units, addictive, brilliant online service, good map distribution and good matchmaking.. Even though the singleplayer is somewhat lacking in story, I would say the actual missions were really fun overall.

Off Topic: I was just looking at highest ratings and I'm not sure how far it shows you back but 9.5 and above over here were Red Dead Redemption, Halo Reach, SMG2, SC2 I think that should be a good showing of what could be be GOTY but of course a 9.0 did win last year over 9.5s so who knows? I think they like to have it be an exclusive and I don't think these place is big into 360 much so I'm guessing SC2.

On Topic: Bayonetta pros:it takes all hack and slash ideas expands and makes playable for anyone and has a great system of fighting and it also includes plenty of other stuff and gives a nice old school SEGA game feel to it (space harrier anyone?). cons: many people don't care for the particular style artistically or in terms of story or pretty much everything short of the action, but that is more of an issue of personal taste. Also the PS3 version was just sad.

Back to Off Topic: I was previously saying ME2 but that was because I was playing it and loving it and after another run of Bayonetta I changed my mind back.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 because it's virtually flawless, hence why it received its score. A game like that full of 3D obstacles, but still plays almost perfectly. Gameplay is so amazing because of fluctuations in gravity, perfect balance, great camera controls, great boss battles, great game mechanics and level design, great fun. Simply the best game in its respective genre. What else could anybody want from a platformer?

eh the boss battles were pretty lack luster and unsatisfying. Like your typical platforming boss battle. Admittedly not an issue though. Who the hell plays platformers for boss fights?

Guess you didn't play NSMB Wii. Atleast it's not another hack n slash game, those are a dime a dozen this gen.

1- Hack n Slash games are hardly a dime a dozen this gen 2- New Super Mario Bros. Boss fights were mediocre as well. Then again I didn't think too much of that game. I couldn't get over the "They did Yoshi's Island years ago....why is this so much crappier than that?"
