Lotus 2.

Still one of my favorite soundtracks ever.

Shame I can't find it anywhere (I can find one song, but it's a MIDI, and I hate MIDIs).

Hard to get amazing soundtracks working with only MIDI.MTBare

Ease Midi Converter at www.download.com
Its the best way to get crazy ring tones on your cell haha. Download MIDI convert to MP3 then you're done. But be warned some MIDI files don't translate accurately to MP3 and some sound kinda different too.

Please, share with the class why you think people composing music for video games somehow don't qualify? Mind telling that to Jeremy Soule? Or Uematsu?

The very first soundtrack that just made me say "wow" was FF2 (FF4 in Japan). That was the first time I ever heard "The Prelude" and to this day that simple song envokes a deep childhood joy in me.

There is a big difference between playing a video game, and sitting and listening to its music.  If you like it, thats fine, but I can still laugh at you for it.

There is a big difference between doing something what others think is acceptable, and what others laugh at. That is basicaly your logic. Remember that playing games used to be laughed at. Remember doing anything on a computer made you "nerdy" and was grounds for being laughed at. Fine, you can laugh. But you laugh alone.

You realize there are games that have actual music in it right? EA Sports games usually have a full featured sound track. You shouldn't be calling people kids when you have a Bubble Bobble avatar. Not saying anything is wrong with the game but come on don't be hypocritical man.

Bubble Bobble is excellent. Sitting down and listening to the music from bubble bobble is not. Most people in this thread are not saying the "EA Sports" soundtrack.

Edit: In fact, I went and checked, and not 1 person said EA sports.  Its mostly final fantasy and other JRPGS.

Sonic the Hedghog on the megadrive. That nostalgia when hearing the sounds from switching the megadrive on and playing the first act. Wow. Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario World for the SNES. Wow, oh wow. Those sounds really got me into the game at the time.Pangster007

Of course not. There are others who laugh at us. They just happen to have never understood what enjoying music, or in fact, art is. If someone can't understand why an individual would enjoy a certain type of music, then they can never claim to understand art. And that, actually is what is sad.

The same thing I am listening to right now. GODS. Man that is so screaming for 5.1 on xbla. Then so does Dungeon Explorer 2 and Gates/Lords/Wings of Thunder. Also would love to hear Xenon 2:Megablast theme, which is just basically a reworking of a John Carpenter Assault on Precinct 13 film. Man he can write tunes.

I usually just troll, but this topic is too good to resist posting.
Here's my picks:

Phantasy Star IV- particularily the song that plays everytime you fly off a planet
Final Fantasy VI- As if this needs an explanation
Chrono Trigger- The piano music that starts playing on the overworld map always made me set the controller down and just listen.
Mega Turrican- Just some insanely catchy music, I can still hum it to this day.

cldstrfe1

2nd on VI, CT, and MT.  Great choices.
