It seems games come and go on these boards. We talk them up and hype so many games. When they finally show up we play and talk for a couple weeks but move on to the next game.

Just wondering what is the oldest game you still play regularly?

Mine would probably be the Dragon Warrior series 1-4 for the NES

A ton of games from the 1990's for many platforms. Heck I am still playing some PC games from that era for the first time this summer... and in the case of some of them, finding they are better than most games out today.

I play with the wiimote which is just close enough to the NES controler that I like playing NES games with it.

In the 90's PC games were absolutely amazing. Many still hold up very well.

Da awesomness of da Playstation iz still amazing 8), Final Fantasy VIII is the only game im playing right now (On my 600$ Ps3   ).

Its an excellent title, I have only two complaints. Its very hard to level up almost every character except for squall and having to steal magic techniques from the enemy is a little annoying.

The cat and mouse stragety is effective, but I enjoy strafing between the large blocks, one or two shots at a time. Seeing as I've only just learned how to strafe, I tend to abuse it.

I always used to hide in the ammo room, but the Cyberdemon somehow shrinks and comes in. Probably my first "oh snap" in gaming.

I find the combination of sprint-strafing and spamming rockets to work best and work the fastest. Ironically, the Spider Mastermind is a pushover compared to the Cyberdemon.

I remember the Spider mastermind wasn't in the manual, so it totally shocked me when I saw it, the post-shock resulted in a lot of deaths initially. But I just kept my distance once, and just picked it off with ease, slightly anticlimactic at the time, definitely a pushover compared to the Cyberdemon. I also prefer the cyberdemons mechanical footsteps :)

It's also probably the first spider with four limbs.

idclip, idchoppers, idclev (+ 1-3+1-9 or 01-32), idbehold (+ s, v, i, a, r, l), idmus (+ 1-9), iddt, idfa, idmypos (?) and idpsispodp (?) :D

If you want to, try playing the game with Skulltag, it adds new-fangled FPS things like free-aim and 3D rendering that make the game fresher to this very day.

I don't know if it is "easier" than playing it the normal way with the keyboard considering I still cannot get past The Underhalls (Level 2) in Doom II on Nightmare.

IDKFA is almost compulsory. It was a bummer when you died, as you'd restart the level with a pistol, and during the later levels where the big raspberries, pinkies and Hell Knights made regular appearances, a flimsy pistol wasn't quite up to scratch.

I remember many occasions were I'd had to run behind a nearby corner and hastily smash the IDDQD code whilst under heavy fire. Very intense.
