Resistance:

Quote: One of the first games expected to shine in one of Home's series of game portals is Insomniac's Resistance: Fall of Man. Resistance is said to provide Home visitors with an interesting room to explore, one that will let PlayStation 3 owners visit unseen areas of the game and tap into bonus content in the form of "intercepted" radio communications between European and U.S. forces. Uncharted:
Quote: While Resistance: Fall of Man's integration with Home should have bonus content fans excited, old school run-and-gun shooter fans should be pretty pumped about what they may be getting with Uncharted: Drake's Fortune's contribution. We hear that the Home portal for Naughty Dog's PlayStation 3 adventure will follow in Resistance's footsteps, allowing Home avatars to explore the game's levels without the threat of being shot at, a nice feature. But it's the Uncharted mini-game that has us far more pumped.

According to our sources, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune comes to Home armed with a side-scrolling 2D arcade game, described to us as reminiscent of both Contra and Out Of This World. Sounds kind of like Capcom's 2D remake of Bionic Commando in its execution, full of enemies and exploding barrels to shoot. Warhawk:
Quote: ...the Home lobby for the Incognito dogfighter will serve as a "war room" where up to eight players can meet to discuss their strategy for an upcoming match. Sure, you could do that with text or voice chat, but it sounds like the developers have gone the extra mile to make planning your battles even cooler.
Using a three-dimensional "sand table" replication of the level, Warhawk players are said to be able to lay out their strategies in a properly scaled space. They'll even be able to place little army men avatars around the map to envision their formations, something we hope they can also do with teeny tiny Warhawk planes, tanks and Jeeps.

Source: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=246758

It seems like its not just a 3d chat room . Lets add the trophies (accomplishments) that will be released with home as well and we have a Winner

microtransactions alone will kill this game for me .. i'll get bored of what there for free, and would find it a waste to buy more stuff (which is inevitably the way sony will go)

also, i think a lot of people are gonna get addicted to it .. it'll just become a huge waste of everybody's time, depriving them of the greater enjoyment of playing actual games

not too much good can come of this for true gamers IMO

There will be no way to get bored of what's available for free...

#1 We don't get bored of coming into these forums and chatting with each other. And that's the main function of Home, to provide a forum for gamers to chat & get to know other players of the same console... works well on gaming sites, will probably work out even better on a console. The main focus is a place for gamers to come together, not the apartments & content... that's just added to make it an interesting & immersive environment that we enjoy coming back to.

#2 Not only is Sony providing tons of free content, each game that you purchase will add even more to that free content. So you could enjoy new content in Home without ever having to make any micro transactions. But what's cooler is the ability to trade and buy stuff from other players, not just Sony & the devs.

#3 IF Home did suck up a lot of ppl's time... that's a good thing. B/c no one is going to be wasting time on something that they don't enjoy. So if they're letting it take up their time, it's b/c they're enjoying themselves... which can not be considered a bad thing to gamers in any way imaginable.

All in all, I'm looking forward to Home. I think that it will provide an added boost to the social vibe of online gaming. But ultimately, I don't think it is going to overshadow the fact that we are on the console to game, not chat. I'm likely to explore Home most before deciding which game I want to play, or at times like this when I just want to kill time chatting w/ other gamers and finding out the latest gossip. It just adds another way to have fun on the system, that's all.

Sony is really setting the framework up for Home. I think in a year or two when everyone is on it, the bugs are worked out and it has a lot developer content it's going to evolve into something awesome.

Aren't those games published by Sony? What about the other publishers? Is it a foregone conclusion that they'll put as much effort into it as the console manufacturer?

What will make Home even greater will be the fact that it'll just end up being a den for 401 scammers and hearing blind cows cry because they lost their money.

The only interesting use described here, Warhawk's map room, really didn't require Home. They could have added a strategy session to Warhawk any time they wanted. Rainbow Six: Raven Shield had this back in, what, 2003?

I'm really trying to think of something interesting about it and the only thing would be that warhawk planning system. I like that. They should do it in war games more often. I think it would be cool to plan sniper positions or bomb placing (since it's 3D). Other than that, I don't see Home as a cool thing.

His point is since Home is a free venue, accessible to anybody with a PS3, scamming has a higher chance of happening. You would understand if you go to college.

REALLY. I have a bachelor's in CIS from Purdue. Where did you go to school, oh esteemed scholar?

And nowhere in my post did I say there wasn't a business case for moving features into Home that could have been done in-game. I simply pointed out that I'm not impressed, as it's nothing that couldn't have been done in-game.

I feel sorry for you if you needed to go to college to understand this concept. This is common sense
