My idea is that the PS3 is designed to sell as a cheap BR player. Think about it, there are no BR players (over $1000) that can compete with the price of any HD-DVD players ($500-600) except for *gasp* the PS3. If it works it is genius, Sony will have pushed both their format and their console at the same time but if it fails Ken and Phil are going to be in line for their EI checks.
