I barely shoot in Dark Forces. I mean, once you get your lightsaber, you forget that it's an FPS.NobuoMusicMakerThere was no lightsaber in the original Dark Forces. >_>
Whenever people talk about the greatest First-Person Shooters of all time, you get the obvious candidates:
Half-Life
Doom
Quake
Halo
Some people occasionally mention:
Deus Ex
System Shock 2
And some less-known ones. But there's one game that it always overlooked.
STAR WARS: Dark Forces. This was one of the first FPS games to use a linear storyline and cutscenes to advance a plot, and it introduced one of the best protagonists in Star Wars, or even one of the best in gaming. Of course, he, too, is overlooked.
Granted, he didn't have a lightsaber in this game. But Dark Forces was a very influential game that, according to Gamespot "Rises above the 'me-too' status and becomes a great game in its own right." And if nothing else, it paved the way for this:
Another game that never gets mentioned. And that led the way for this, which I particularly liked:
As for Jedi Outcast, I challenge you to find a game that has better swordfighting, aside from this:
This series is so often overlooked, and I fail to see why. >_>
PannicAtack
Jedi Academy is one of my all-time favorites.Â

People forget about these games too, they were actually pretty good. Now a couple of these are not really FPS games, but are still important to the first person genre. Â
[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]Guess you have never seen my list:
- Star Wars Republic Commando

This has to be the greatest FPS IMO
Maybe not the greatest, but I really loved that game as well! (IMO the squad stuff really added to the gameplay experience, and the story wasn't bad either)Â
I somewhat agree with the TC, the Jedi Knight series is indeed awesome, but I don't really care that much whether or not it makes the 'great FPS' lists. You will always miss some games on those kind of lists, no matter how elaborate they are. Â
