When do you think this amazing phenomena will stop. I've never seen a product so successful that you still can't find one almost 1 1/2 years after its release do to demand. What do you make of this and when do you think the Wiis will start stacking up in retail stores?Shenmue_Jehuty
Because it appeals more to people who were non gamers and it is also cheap so you can get it as a party system
I dunno about you guys but in the UK you can walk into any store right now and buy a Wii. Nintendo stepped up the production quite a bit around christmas.Ninja-Vox
I know personally I haven't seen a Wii in a store since right after Christmas here in the US.
Target has a stack of them every Sunday. :|

No they don't. I work at Target and we maybe have had 40 in stock since December.

I work at Nintendo and the shortages are fake, were just making them to increase demand. Don't tell anyone though.

I CALLED ONE TODAY, AND THE CLERK TOLD THEY HAD SOME IN STOCK THIS MORNING BUT WERE GONE WITHIN A HOUR! IT'S SO F-ING FRUSTRATING!! :x
I can't even find one online outside of Ebay. It's like Nintendo has stopped shipping them out..
Oh? and where the hell do you live at? :| I doubt there would be any left passed that one day..Target has a stack of them every Sunday. :|
JayPee89
Target where I live don't seem to have any. The clerk says that soon as they get them, it's gone within a hour which he says is crazy..

NO, I said that Target rarely has them period. It doesn't matter if you live in Boston, New Orleans, or Seattle, no Targets have them in regularly. As a national corperation, Target likes to standardize their Wii releases, meaning they often get them in stock on a Saturday and waituntil the next day to release them nationwide. They only will put them out on shelves during the week if they know a sipment is coming in Saturday for the Sunday add. You have no idea what you're talking about.
I saw a Wii in store, but it was behind a glass case and some kid was already playing it. :(
I got mine on January 21st for my birthday. How? I did the little raincheck program from GameStop. I waltzed into my local GS, paid $250 upfront, and waited until late January when my Wii (ironically enough) arrived on my birthday. Yay for me!
I found one today on my first day searching.....too bad I had to go to 10 stores before I found one and then ended up getting the very last one. I finally got one because brawl comes out soon.

:( I've been through 17 here in chicago and still can't find one...
And I've been searching through these stores for the past 2 weeks.....
Demand for the hardware is high, but what about the software? The Wii has a low software tie ratio. Meaning, the people who are buying it, don't seem to know why, such as is the case with most fads.
Sorry, 2008 will bring reality to the all the Fanboys - the Wii software just isn't that good. And hardware demands will just fad away, since fewer and fewer non gamers will continue buying it.

Why do you need to bash or support a system if your just stating what you saw?

That's not ironic its coincidental!
(Perfect set up for a Futurama reference)

Attach rates mean ****.
Would you rather make a game on a system with 1,000,000 userbase, with a 50% attach rate.
Or a system with 5,000,000 userbase, with a 20% attach rate.

Lower attach rates generally mean interest in the console will have no legs. Think the PS2 would have lasted this long with a low attach rate?[QUOTE="sexy_chimp"][QUOTE="Demetri_OS"]Demand for the hardware is high, but what about the software? If System A sells 2,000,000 games in a month, and System B sells 1,000,000 games in a month, but had an attach rate twice as high, which one would you rather make a game for?
I dunno about you guys but in the UK you can walk into any store right now and buy a Wii. Nintendo stepped up the production quite a bit around christmas.Ninja-Vox:| no you can't, unless you're extremely lucky. The only place having a good consistent (but still very short) supply of Wii is Amazon UK. Of course, you can always get forced bundles (like in gamestation) of which you pay a premium of over £15.
Does this look like 'you can walk in any store right now and buy a wii?' - http://uk.nowinstock.net/wii/index.php
